Question about Mogh, Lord of Blood and Rune Arcs
! - Did anyone find this boss brutally hard? I didn't use the shackle but it probably took me about 21 tries. It was rough and I am pretty high level. I am nervous about the other optional boss everyone calls the hardest now.
2 - I used a lot of Rune Arcs for this boss. What is the best way to farm/get these?

Mohg is indeed a very tough fight. He's basically like an endgame optional boss. For me it was his delayed attacks, it's extremely deceptive and they hit for a lot of your hp.

Rune arcs can be farmed by killing the host in an invasion or helping out some people with bosses. Alternatively, there are merchants which sell then like the Nomadic Merchant in the cave just before Mohg's arena.

Mogh gives you the most Souls after Elden Beast and Radagon...actually...he gives the most souls out of any single enemy in The game after defeating...

So yea..he's up there in top 5 most difficult

1: he's tough if you are underleveled, i took probably like 30 tries at level 40, but my 110 beat it in two or three
At 40? I'm guessing the damage scales very hard then. I've reached him yesterday at level 130 or more, I don't even know by now.
He hits like a truck on heavy armor and the nihil kills me at the second hit if I'm not completely full with upwards of 500 robustness (or whatever's the bleed-related stat) at 50 vitality.

I thought it'd be a oneshot galore at lower levels, with all that aoe and damage and especially the unavoidable nihil.

He also seems to have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of hps, how long did it take at 40?

I found him to be the second hardest late game boss after malenia. He just takes long enough to kill that I couldn't keep focus for that long, and with all the delayed attacks he does I had to actually be paying attention rather than just dodging on reflex.

I don't he's all that hard to figure out, like if I was focusing enough I could dodge most everything, but he takes a long time if you play patient, unless you've got a bleed build because he's very vulnerable to bleed.

also IMO unlike Morgott, the shackle for Mogh doesn't really do much at all since 95% of the fight difficulty is phase 2 - the flask tear that nullifies his nihil ritual curse is much more significant
If you have the dps, you could probably kill him before he goes phase 2 using the shackle.

Regardless, I think he gets back flat hp. If you shackle him right before he does tres, you could fight him at much lower hp in phase 2.

Mohg at least for me was the type of boss who would wear out all my pots in a prolonged fight, not the type of boss who would 1 shot me or go ultra aggro to prevent me from healing, so fighting him from like 40-50% hp in phase 2 instead of 75% is pretty significant.

That's assuming the shackle works how I think it does, and its just a more effective poise break you can use before he's below 50% hp. If it like wears off the moment you get him below half, then that'd be a lot less useful.

It should stop working when he does the Nihil or after 2 uses.
Didn't use it so I can't confirm, but that's what I read.

But if he's at like say 51% (or 1% before he uses tres, I'm not sure exactly when that is), and you use shackle, you can just wail on him right? He won't like break the shackles once he's 49% hp or anything?

Or, if he's at 51% and you stagger him, can you use shackle when he gets up before (or after) he does tres? Because if you can do that, you can probably just burst him down before he uses nihil (depending on your build). You could pull that off too by just getting like a rapier or other light weapon with the glinstone phalanx on it or something (that ash of war does insane stagger for some reason while doing low enough damage it probably wouldn't push him into tres).

Nihil is blood loss, so its % max hp. It won't 1 shot low level players for that reason and your robustness doesn't help (robustness makes it take longer to build up, it doesn't lower the damage).

I would assume he'd just transition into nihil after coming out of the stun?
But if you can indeed burst him to the transition before he can do all 3 of his curses I have no clue.
I can assume he will just spam the missing curse/s and transition, but then again I'm definitely not the right guy to get an answer from.

Makes sense.
I did consider it but using the +1 talisman increasing the stat seemed to help. I guess it was just an impression.
So unless the "regular" bleed actually procs that talisman is useless, correct?

Nihil isn't unavoidable. You can kill him before he casts it, and there's a mixed flask tear that makes you not take damage from it. It simply heals him back to 2/3 health at that point.

Help others online, kill a boss and get a Rune Arc.

I would say hes among the hardest optional bosses, next to Malenia and Dragonlord.

He is pretty easy if you have bleed build, kinda ironic isn't it?

I just beaten him 2nd try with nagakiba and rivers of blood, bleed keep proc and stagger him. I killed him before he enter 2nd phase. I don't even realize he have 2nd phase until I replay NG+ and fight him again, he much harder to beat without bleed.
