Wing of Astel
Why isn't there more love for this thing?
I wanted a replacement for the moonveil, since it got boring.

This thing has so many moves you can do including the R2 cancel dodge, a non-FP costing short range magic attack which can be chained, a healthbar melting L2 (seriously this does more damage than any of my spells and it staggers them too).

To top it off it can be powerstanced with other curved swords for all of the above AND a powerstance moveset.

How the hell are people not using this more than the moonveil?

Range is kinda short

Because Moonveil is broken, and Wing of Astel isn't. Simple as. Wing of Astel is a very fun weapon, especially in PVP. Bad players flock to Moonveil more because its range is broken, its damage is broken, it's very fast, and it has next to no recovery on top of using very little FP. Using something like Wing of Astel actually takes thought.

True but it's free to use, it actually perfectly fills the range gap between using sorcerirs and melee imo.

Yeah moonveil is definitely a bit OP.
I used it as my main for a long time after googling the best INT scaling melee weapon.
Moonveil is +8 and Wing of Astel is +9, still feels like Moonveil out DPS's the Wing of Astel with regular attacks.

Wing of Astel is indeed very fun for PvP, i killed an invader just now and i could tell he had no idea what to expect as i was powerstancing and doing the L2/R2 to shield my host, really fun stuff!

I definitely recommend switching to this for any moonveil user, it's just a lot more fun and varied to use.

Wing of Astel was my melee armament for my sorcery build, very good weapon. Weapon art is strong and cool, beam attacks from R2s is fun.

Why is Moonveil broken? You can dodge any "Magic Shot" from moonveil sooooo easy in PvP. Its childsplay.

It's broken by every metric. How easy something is to dodge isn't an indicator of whether or not it's broken. The R2 on the WA has way more range than it has any right to have, it's exceptionally fast, it comes out exceptionally fast, it does insane damage (it's very easy to hit 1k with it), and it uses very little FP while having little recovery. It's too easy to trade with, and it always poise breaks when it hits. If you trade with moonveil into any weapon in the game, you will almost always win.

WoA is great for fighting large enemies. The WA can chain stagger them until dead. Unfortunately, because of the delay in the explosion is kind of sucks in PvP or at least has been my experience with it.

I managed to get one of the explosions to hit an invader that was sprinting straight towards the host behind me, probably lucky since he didn't know the weapon.

It definitely melts bosses' healthbars, i find it even useful for some faster enemies, since you can lay down a screen of bombs and have them run into it.

Did you try the powerstancing with it? I don't do much damage with the off hand curved sword i have but the moveset is super fast and harder to predict.
