I swear everytime i deal with these guys it feels im hitting them with an +0 weapon.

Not that they are hard to deal or anything, but seriously, why does rotting skinny zombies tank so much?

there's usually a freaking ton of them too. Especially in the blood palace. Like a small army. Obviously the devs intend for you to avoid them cuz nobody is gonna stand there and kill 80 of those dudes.

For me, Bloodhound Dexterity proved quite useful to kill two or three of them with a single attack without been caught in the explosion (just be careful NOT to follow up with the second part of the attack). Stone of Gurranq works, too, and carefully aimed Volcanic Pots can really wreck them

On my first playthrough I made an effort to search EVERY inch of the world, and kill every enemy at least once, killing the zombie guys on the beach in weeping peninsula sure did take a while...

I think they are made of filth and ♥♥♥♥ and stuff, like clay, soil, blood, pretty much whatever the environment around provides. I don't think they are normal corpses turned zombie.

They seem to be weak to Bleed/Frost, though it's usually quicker just to ignore and avoid them.

they're weak to AOE. get mohgs spear or a relic sword and go to town.
or simply one of the ridiculously OP sorceries in the game.

I think they may be weak to fire, spark aromatics worked wonderfuly well against them when I tried it.

They are pretty weak to running around them and ignoring them, hammer to the face usually works, if cornered.

For some reason I stopped being able to damage putrid corpses. It doesn't matter what weapon or spell I use, it just passes harmlessly through them. It is the same for putrid corpses in different locations as well. Does anyone know why this is the case?

The secret is not fighting them.

Night Maiden's Mist is the answer, but if you want to melee them, try bleed or frost or better yet both.
