Greatswords needs a moveset rework
Lets face it, claymore is the only greatsword that has any worth in the game because of it's thrust attack.

Their range is bad, their attack speed and recovery is only mediocre, their damage is not often something to brag about and the legendary greatswords often feels like a joke, cool looking as heck but a joke.

You know, it'll be great if there are Movesets of War, which, just like Ashes of War, can be infused with a particular weapon.

No it would be great if they made a new moveset and not recycled an outdated moveset that has been bad for years.

I was dissapointed that they took collosal swords moveset from DS1 but not from DS3. I got so good time playing ding-dong with berserk sword in DS3 that I wanted repeat it here, but no, there were only swipes.

Have you tried using crouch attacks? If you crouch + attack some weapons swap to thrusts or quick swings. They generally use the roll-attack when you use crouch. It makes some weapons a lot more usable.

i agree, greatswords moveset looks and feels the worst out of all weapons. its basically the generic moveset from previous games but this time even slower. meanwhile katanas fully reworked and made into god tier weapons... yeah ok

Only the claymore trusts. Only greatsword I haven't looked at is the imps odd forked greatsword.

Every other greatsword has a downslam attack as a heavy except flamberge which has a slow and awkward wide useless swing.

The reason you see almost every greatsword player (including me) use storm stomp is because if we do not use stormstomp or claymore we can't really do anything. I honestly can't tell if greatswords has longer reach than straightsword or not, but it does not seem like it.
I agree as a greatsword user from day 1 greatswords are largely useless for PVP except spamming the R1 poke and a jump attack that only works for noobs. The regular heavy swings will never hit a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing. The downslam is pure suicide to use and will get you backstabbed. For PVE at least before the patch it was a super mario spam fest with jump attacks, everything else was largely useless because you had to trade hits for how slow swings were.

I am so annoyed also that katana users have Olympic athlete levels of stamina to use to freely spam hits relentlessly and do the zoomies like a squirrel with rabies while my stamina is basically gone in like 2 swings.

Jump attacks is always viable in PvE with all weapons, tho.

sometimes when youre trying to poke people you think you got them with how freaking long the greatswords are but they just magically take no damage which is also kind of annoying big time, i dont get how to tell if my opponent is in my range or not

It's because when you two hand it you can see he curls a bit up when striking. Basicly reducing the range intentionally.

It is BS concidering the damage you get from greatswords is laughable compared to literally any thrusting weapon in the game.

You forgot to mention the fact that it's heavy running attack breaks poise and their basic sheath weapon skill deals an extreme ammount of damage for no reason.

Funny, I did my entire first playthrough with a Lordsworn's Greatsword alone (no magic, summons, statuses etc) and had a great time.
I even respec'd into colossal swords and weapons for my NG+, but I had less fun, the charged attacks are literally impossible to land because they are too slow. With my greatsword I basically spammed nothing but charged attacks, sometimes two in a row, and poise broke bosses left and right.
The colossals do more damage, but I can barely poise break 1 time in a fight.

Try PvP then, lets see what you say then.

Btw Colossal sword is thrust only, it is as fast as a rapier
