Wanted them dead for the golden scarab because I have been farming the mobs around the beast sanctum for runes and wanted that bonus 20%. Aiming for a strength/faith build, so that boost will help.
I really need to find some buff spells, lol!
Does not help the armor I'm using uses a lot of my load weight (banished knight chest and feet, with D's gloves and helmet) since i was hoping that that would help soften some of the hits. I use two talismans to boost load-out weight (one pure boost while other also boosts hp and stamina) and the third slot I keep trying various other things.
I tend to work on physical stats like vigor, endurance, and an attack stat like str or dex first. Once those have solid numbers and I've got a weapon moveset I like, then I'll branch out into other stats.
If you like shields, then find one with close to 100% physical block. Also remember you can upgrade shields to increase their guard boost. That means less stamina loss when you block. You can trade out armor pieces as you level to keep at least a medium load out / roll.
If you get really good you can go around naked and parry everything but that takes tons of practice and no mistakes. If you ever get to NG+7 then you'll realize that vigor becomes a less valuable stat with every playthrough since way more stuff can one shot you.
Vig is really the stat that makes the game way easier compared to other stats, unless you're trying to be a spell caster or something.
Your weapon upgrade is high, so you benefit more from scaling
You need more stats to use an item or spell
You feel like you aren't dying quickly
The thing with Vigor vs other stats (especially early on) is that the majority of your damage comes from weapon upgrades untill your weapon starts to hit higher upgrade levels. It actually makes the game far easier early on if you go vigor before other stats. But 40 at this point should be fine. If I were you I'd just slowly put a point in vigor every other level or something up to max 60. Late game 60 vigor + greatshield talisman will mean you won't suffer all the complaining you read here on the forums. With those stats you will rarely if ever get 1 or 2 shot.
Any heavy reliance in spell casting wants a lot of mind.
So if you aren't really using the faith points to heal or kill with spells and rather just use buffs, you can just do what I do and have 15 faith to cast a weapon buff and what ever defensive buff I want and pump everything else in HP.
I have 30 Vigor on RL109 and it works for me just fine.
It all depends on build and playstyle and gear to compliment your stats.
