With FROMSOFT's style I feel like the story is just kinda "meh". The Dark Souls series pulled me in more lore-wise than Elden Ring did.

They should've collaborated with Hideo Kojima or something. Imagine a FS title with Kojima's horror element. I feel the game would've been waaaay more horrific and would've been the perfect combo considering both build their games on mysteries and the discovery aspect of things. The enemies would've been a lot more menacing too imo.

I'm 99% certain that Dung-Eater is also GRRM's work. It's got too much of the overblowing cringey dark realism he is so fond of.

I mean, your not wrong. Though, to his credit, he knows what (sadly) sells: sex and violence. I mean, look at the sales numbers for the Saw franchise. You can hardly blame him for 'giving the people what they want'. Though its no less a shame for literature.

More reason for a dev like Kojima to collaborate than GRRM. At least their styles somewhat fit together. Enemies like Revenants are some sh*t I'd expect out of Dark Souls or a Kojima game, not really ER as it is. FS game stories should feel like psychological thrillers that make you want to uncover more of the lore and mysteries surrounding the story (Dark Souls did a good job at this for me).

If ER was a continuation of DS instead of something new I feel it would've been perfect. Especially considering they spent the last X amount of years building that world over three games. Kinda lame how they just ended it with Gael. He was a pretty bad ass final boss and considering you're fighting the Dark Soul itself possessing him by the end of it.

Kojima is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage writer, the moment they team up with that hack is the moment I avoid FS games like the plague.

Also Kojima's style is nowhere near the way Miyazaki and his group write. One is minimal with story and goes for context clues and tidpits of puzzle story, while Kojima forcefeeds you exposition like it's an 80s b-movie.

What a terrible combination. I can't believe anyone would even suggest this.
