Lock on Camera kills me more than the enemies, how to disable correctly ?
Hi all,

please help me a little here. This ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ camera is responsible for countless death of me.

I try to avoid the lock-on camera, but sometimes it makes it hard hitting the target without. But when I use it, I fight a boss or hard monster and then the camera seems to have an ADHS problem and think "Uh, squirrel, let me lock on this instead".

Playing with PC / Keyboard btw.

In the settings I only have the option "Reset Camera / Lock On / Remove Target" set to the Key I want to use.

Toggle Auto Lock on is ===> OFF
Auto Target ====> OFF
Manual Attack AIMING ====> OFF

So, what am I missing here ?

Other camera options are not set. But I can switch an enemie I have locked on, when simply moving my mouse to face a different target, and that is deadly in a fight.

Thanks for help.

Automatic centering and automatic wall avoidance

If you on kbm, make the manual attack aiming - ON. That will make you less dependent on the camera-lock which is not advisable to use against big enemies most of the time.

You might want to turn manual attack aiming on again. It's just a preference thing if you play with heavy weapons, but I usually use it. The camera in souls games is notoriously bad. Someone might think that's a technology that people figured out or improved already in 2000 for Ps2 or in 2006 for Ps3.

You sure ? This sounds like a useful feature, not related to target lock on.... I try though.

Never mind, found some threads online, this ♥♥♥♥ can NOT be disabled. Unbelievable. I don't think that the PC controls are that bad after you arranged a bit to your liking, i really have a hang of it now. Especially since I was able to bind my right mouse button for forward movement like my brain is used to, I really enjoy this game now.

But laying the target switch on the same function as camera movement control, in a game where you fight dangerous foes that one-shot you, that's just bad game design :( Hopefully some mod or something will fix this in future.

Controller is no option for me, I do not enjoy playing with controllers, also an ergonomical issue for me.

I mean, it's not "bad" design - the game is designed for use with a controller, where after you lock onto a target, you release the analog stick. It happens that this makes mouse controls harder since you typically use the mouse buttons for combat, and it's hard to not jiggle the mouse a bit

Not any consolation to you, but there is a reason it is the way it is

I've heard some people have had luck reducing mouse sensitivity - you don't really ever need to move the camera that fast or precisely, and it can help reduce the target switching

You don't need to move your mouse once you are locked on, just a quick flick to the left of right to swap targets

Edit: unfortunately I think the "auto-lock" settings have to do with, when you kill an enemy, whether the camera moves to a new target - slightly different than switching targets when the original is still alive

If your problem is the target lock switching target whenever facing multiple targets (or a random squirrel in the background), here's what I do to avoid it. Only click target lock at the very last moment and it will get the enemy in front of you, especially noticeable when using jump attacks into groups of enemies. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys.... I try to get used with it... Since I click mouse to attack, and in the stress of combat, movement of the mouse is unavoidable (even though not intended or needed).

I read somewhere that increasing mouse and camera control to 10 makes it a bit better. I too have at least the feeling it does work.

It's just a little frustrating, since group of enemies are the worst when you get hits from left to right, and then the camera interferes too. It's not a problem in single foe combat.... Oh well, nothing that can be done, so I have to live with it :)

press the lock on button again to lock off so you dont get stuck looking at enemies

there is none, DO NOT TRY TO LEGIMETE a thing that is 90s technology and already has an alternative and a solution so easly. Pls delete this point of view on your head.
