These posts are always doing A = B because WHY THE HELL NOT.
If you like Middle Earth, this is written to seem like it but only through painstaking wool-gathering. In other words, if you think LB = ME you've already been hooked.
Even still Middleearth and Things Betwixt both sound far better than The Lands Between...so generic

To be serious, I think the setting in LOTR is way better.
This game is unfortunately marketed to that audience. Hence, the somewhat tepid nomenclature.
BUT EVEN WITH ALL THAT, THE LORE IN THE SOULS GAMES, PARTICULARLY DARK SOULS 2, DARK SOULS 3 AND ELDEN RING, IS FANTASTIC.
Elden Ring doesn't even feel like LotR.
And there's no elves. That's a key distinction.
