anyone else bothered by the overworld ambient music?
This isn't game breaking by any means, I just feel like it's unnecessary and takes away from the boss themes and other music.

Speaking from a design perspective for Dark Souls 1, that game only had music playing during the boss fights, or important areas like FIrelink shrine, Gwynevere's chamber, Ash lake, and Kiln of the first flame. All of these areas are critical points in both your progress and lore.

It would have been a lot more immersive and atmospheric if you could hear just your footsteps, or your horse running while it rained, instead of being interrupted by the music, not to mention it takes away from the impact of other music that plays like the ones during boss battles.

Well...uh...turn the music off in settings! Indeed, I turned it down a bit as I always do in a game. But I find it quite immersive and puts me in a mood.

It's forgettable. Doesn't add much to the experience and doesn't take away from it either. Pretty definitive in terms of ambient music.

I've mostly played with headphones off for this game after finding the music and audio design to be amongst the most forgettable of the decade. A complete sound failure for an otherwise atmospheric game.

only time it bothers me is in the underground regions because that "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" is so damn annoying

I would be fine with it if the soundtrack was actually good and added to the experience like any good video game music does. But it's just a bad soundtrack and yeah, I remember thinking I wish it wasn't even there at all at times as it actually managed to detract from the game experience.

True this is somewhat of a solution, but it's more about how the music is used than anything else.

Dueling at Liurnia and hearing those damn stupid sounds constatly is giving me brain damage tbh

the ironic thing is that it would be more atmospheric without music

Somehow sounds in general in this game (and DS3 for that matter) a bit out of sync with the gameplay.

Whenever I feel like I need to focus, I simply put the headphones down and perform much better. Mb just me, but that works every time with soul games.

Choirs singing in bossfights is getting old, and on my nerves lol. Ambient is alright but bossfight music is weak in this game.

Yup, it kind of is. I wish they either went strong like in Xenoblade Chronicles music or went simpler and more appropriate with good environmental sound like in Legend of Dragoon. Either approaches would have been a boon to atmospheric design but what we got...

Choirs and epic styled music are overdone in games. I like it when it is done in moderation with fantastic impact and aptly placed, but otherwise it just makes you numb to it.

The lack of percussion makes the game world soundtrack seem odd and unfinished, and Redmane Castle audio felt like I was at a Cleveland Indians game. The title theme and some of the boss tracks though are pretty epic imo.

Game soundtracks are music for simpletons so I give it little mind.
