If I start with the golden seed keepsake, does that replace one other golden seed in the world, or is it purely an extra one?

It’s just an extra one, there’s more golden seeds in the world than it takes to max out the flask

There are way more seeds than you need. The first 6 you get will contain most of your seed upgrades so you can get nearly maxed flask extremely early with a bit of exploring. The last few require a lot more seeds and even then you have a tone left over.

Same for dragon hearts. You will have extras if you kill all dragon related enemies that drop hearts.

Yeah, that's why I started going for the rune, not to use them, but because they are the only item you don't get elsewhere in the game.

Also, cracked pots do replace ones in the world so you're stuck at twenty I believe.

there are also plenty of stonesword keys, but its nice to start with if you want to get some items from that first grave for example

That's actually what I ended up picking, since I really like that Talisman and I didn't even know you could get it so early there

There are more golden seeds in the world than you need to fully upgrade your flasks, so you shouldn't worry too much about it. It won't replace anything. It's just an extra item. It's fine, but it's not like it will really impact the game much.

this actually also allows you to get BASED KNIGHT OLEG early. aka S tier summon which can literally play the game for you on bosses.

you can max all 14 flasks before fighting morgott in the royal city. you can get to 11 flasks without entering altus plateau aswell or going to mt gelmir.
you cannot reach +12 upgrade however before the mountaintops after morgott. 10 is max before royal city.

for extra of course, I hope they could make it divisible by 5 or 10 (like ds1) like 15 Flask total and +15 tear since late enemies hit like truck.
