ELDEN RING
What's with daggers?
So in all the dark souls games, I was never able to make daggers feel successful in a pve build. No matter what I'd do, they always felt weak/handicapped compared to every other weapon. Of course, outside of situations where you're getting easy backstabs/crits. Maybe historically they're more of a pvp thing?

I've yet to try daggers in this game. Do you have any insights or recommendations about making daggers useful? Are they inherently bad outside of niche situations?

Any thoughts about daggers in Elden ring will do.

I used to a bleed dagger in DS3, it was really fun. Except I think there was one boss where I had to rely on something else due to bleed resist.
I just keep my Misericorde set up as my secondary Right Hand weapon.
When I'm crouching around and backstabbing, I always prefer to have it out.
And if I'm doing a lot of parrying, same thing.
Some enemies recover from the Parry stagger too quickly to switch weapons.
Try black knife, scorpion sting. miserecorde or reduva
Winged Sword Insignia is a Talisman in Elden Ring. Winged Sword Insignia increases the player's attack power with each successive attack.

Reduvia is a Dagger scales with Strength, Dexterity, and Arcane.
Slash with the wicked dagger, transforming its never-drying bloodstains into airborne blood blades that cause blood loss.
Can be fired in rapid succession.

No matter what my build is, i always have the misericode as a side weapon beside from my main weapon incase enemy broke stance.
they were great in DS1. You could see the host hesitate when he saw my dual-dagger build.
if you plan on dual wield daggers, winged sword insignia and the talisman that increases damage on your last combo attack could prove useful, maybe the talisman that increases damage of charged attacks too, considering those are quite fast on daggers.

high poise would be a good idea since daggers barely stagger enemies
Reduva is great, it projectile is very useful.
Curved swords outperform daggers in R1 spam. Other build relying on non dagger specs outperform dagger specs in general. There are better weapon arts too than what dagger offer.
Why is misericorde better than, say, Reduvia?

Why is misericorde better than, say, Reduvia?
Misericode has 140 crit, Reduvia only has 110
daggers are for ripostes
Daggers are generally terrible outside of backstabs or critical hits in most RPGs (with the exception of Fallout 3-4 where they make for instant kills on sleeping opponents with the right perks) of every kind in the name of weapons balance.
Perhaps people should be calling for a rebalance of shorter bladed weapons versus longer weapons rather than making that which is already effecting much less effective if not useless?
