also loved Kings Field 4 which i played earlier this year on emulator but u need the right version (NTSC i think for 60fps) and the widescreen/aspect ratio fix patch. it has some features we later came to love in demons souls and darksouls like its looping leveldesign with countless shortcuts, illusionary walls. it even has some features that surpass future fromsoftgames like the leveling of weapons by simply hitting targets and unlocking sword magic with em. theres underwater sections, its first person, and has one of the best soundtracks ever

If you like the boss fighting aspects of said games. Monster Hunter series ofc should be obvious.
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic.
Of the rest, I recommend Dragon's Dogma. Very different game compared to Souls but also sporting excellent combat and some exhilarating encounters. Think of it as a cross between Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry.
They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong.
Can second Automata as being incredibly solid. Not the biggest fan of having 2B's ass in my face the entire time (and I preferred the previous Nier--specifically Dad Nier, rather than the bishonen mess they foisted on us with the remake), but the game itself is stupidly well done.
...the "twist" in the story is roughly as clever (and as easy to see coming a hundred miles off) as a Shyamalan plot, but super solid game play, and the soundtrack is a solid wall of bangers.
the whole game long i had Bloodborne vibes.
I never liked LotF to be honest. It's like they tried to copy Dark Souls without understanding what made those games fun and addicting. Same problem they had with their subsequent games, The Surge 1 and 2. They're clumsy and feel hard for the sake of being hard.
Mortal Shell is pretty decent but super short. It stays very close to the DS formula but with a few different takes. Story is very DS-like overall pretty good. World is designed as a central hub branching off in short-ish linear dungeons. But standout artwork and soundtrack.
Nioh 1 and 2 are DS-like but, IMO, just too much extras added. The combat is much faster paced and reminds me more of a spectacle-style fighter than straight up DS. Its all about weapon upgrade paths and memorizing button combos. And its got big looter elements in it. Not so great in that it encourages exploration because just about anything you find is obsolete in a further two missions. But if you like its style of combat its very good. But biggest difference is that its not a continuous world like in DS. All areas are basically standalone maps that you select--and there is a bit of repetition with them as well.
