Question about Radahn
Anyone knows why he grew so large in size?

Its kinda weird since none of his siblings or parents shares this trait.

The only one exception would be Rykard, but his size was a cause of his transformation, not birth.

Radagon and Rennala arent even close to his size, nor Ranni who was arguably the smallest of the siblings.

And from Marika's and Radagon's children, Malenia and Miquella werent giants either.

And if we include the Marika = Radagon thing, this trait didnt apply to Mogh, Morgott or Godwyn either.

I think it's because he is Radagons son, Radagon has red hair and he hates it implying it's some sort of curse, so maybe he passed that on to Radhan and he grew in size.

Now what his other sons did not grow so large I don't know, but each are unique in their own way so maybe they take random traits from their parents.

Don't think too hard about it; it's just how From Software rolls.
Even something as """"""realistic"""""" as Sekiro had almost every important guy being way taller than the player character. Probably it's inspired by either beat'em ups or martial arts anime where many antagonists were big dudes.

Not in Radhans case his size is acknowledged even in the lore. For instance he learned gravitational magic because he was growing too large and his scrawny horse couldn't carry him, but since he liked the horse so much he learned magic to keep riding it.

Um idk.

Mogh and Morgott were cursed but arent born from Radagon.

And Miquella who was his son has blonde hair yet still was cursed as well.

Do we even get a reason why he hated his hair? only thing that comes to mind was because their enemy, the giants were all redhaired

you see how skinny and emaciated his "beloved horse" is?
he ate the horses share!

Mogh and Morgot had a different curse, they were omens.

Miquella and Maleina people theorize that have deficiencies because they are born out of the same being, they are like ULTRA inbreed.

As for why Radagon hates his hair, it's because the reason it's red is because it's linked to the giants, normally he would have blonde hair, I think there is even promotional art style of him blonde working on the Elden Ring.

Yeah but Miquella's being blonde kinda conflicts the idea that the hair had anything to do with it.

So who knows.

Dont think it had anything to do with gravity either since, he learned it specifically because he grew too large for the horse.

In all the souls games, the art direction for bosses has always leaned towards 'the more powerful a foe is, the larger they are'. A lot of this came from the idea of 'consuming' loads of souls and growing larger because of it, but there are obviously exceptions to the rule.

Radahn was probably a large person to begin with, but from his countless battles as well as consuming corpses in his post-scarlet rot phase, he's grown to enormous size. It's hard to tell the timeline of how long ago the shattering happened, so it could have been a very slow process over time.

But basically, they've usually always made humanoid bosses big because it suits the art direction, and gives off a 'david vs goliath' type lens to fights.

EDIT: Sometimes Fromsoft just makes decisions on things because it's fun or interesting, not necessarily using the 'lore' as a strict bible.

No it's not related to the gravity, but I do think its related to the giants in ways the lore is t explicit about it.

Still, I don't think there is any lore either way to contextualize it.

Radahn was sorta normal size at the start of the Shattering as seen in his battle with Margit, and was a giant at the end of it when he fought Malenia, which was before he became a mindless monster that eats corpses.

IIRC Radagon started as a blonde, just like a Lannister. He was cursed by the Fire Giants when he was fighting them (though I thought it was Godfrey and his Crucible Knights who fought the giants), then Marika cursed the Giants in return.

After Morgott was defeated his body laid behind the Elden Throne. He seemed to have shrunk a lot. Perhaps he was full of hot air.

The 'grew too large for his horse' bit does suggest that Radahn wasn't always that big.
Kain Apr 28, 2022 @ 9:23pm
Radhans never thought Margit, at least there is no lore about it.

More like dried out.

Also he looked more human rather than animalistic.

Maybe that's how he floated around and not gravitational magic.
