Why does a game has to be so hard ?
Why is it so hard to understand that different people like different level of difficulty when playing game. Not everyone is interested remotely in competitive gaming or difficulty. Many enjoy just to relax and have decent fun. What is this insane push for difficulty in FROM games ?

Why does the player need to lose their souls upon dying ? What's with that ? I don't know of another game to take away your levels and your progress through the game just because you died. I have collected these souls and levels and they should not be taken away from me.

Some difficulty is needed but when it is too much it becomes counter-productive as a source of entertainment. The difficulty of Elden Ring late game is unbearable, it is far more difficult than early to mid game. No transition, it suddenly spikes, something is severely off in the late game balance.

Hardcore arcade players might like it, but a significant share of players is being put off by the game's balance and its abusive sense of punishment. The whole game stinks from its obsessive desire to be punishing, one can sense it miles away just by observing how ridiculous boss moves are made in Elden Ring with the sole purpose to grief the player. As if FROM is not in a competition for a broad spectrum of players, but instead as if they are in a race to how to make the player quit playing their games as fast as possible.

Listen for the color of the sky. Look for the sound of the hummingbirds wings. Search the air for the perfume of ice, on a hot summer’s day. If you have found these things, you will know.

the game has everything under the erdtree to help you make the game literally become childplay.

Pretty sure dropping your stuff where you died did not originate with Souls games. Wasnt that a thing in Diablo too?

you have different levels of difficulty based on approach. Elden ring is so open with options and tools found by exploring instead of doing a beeline to the boss it can be Very Very easy or Super hard based on your approach.

granted the easiest the game gets isn't on par with a my little pony game.

as for the later half of the game. its assumed you've at least learnt a little about how things work and improved at the game a little by that point so it will get a little harder.

The game is as Hard or as Easy as you make it. You can beat the hardest boss in the game EASILY using multiple cheese strats or overpowered weapons/spells. You can also beat them using lvl 1 characters without even DODGING OR BLOCKING OR ANYTHING. Only you decide what the limits are on what you're willing to use to defeat the game, and the more restrictions you place on yourself, the harder it becomes.

But if you place no restrictions at all then this game isn't hard in the slightest. You can clear everything using extremely easy methods if you understand all the ways to abuse buffs and strong weapons.

You can even do it at lvl 1. Without being good at the game.

Game isn't for you, simple as. Don't gotta come into something not made for you and try to change it.

Actually, it is. It's as easy as a my little pony game.

Well, the game was made for a hardcore audience, that so many people bought the game was just a surprise for From software. I guess it proves how the average gamer is uninformed and trust scores instead of reading reviews and doing their research, they'll get anything that has a 9 or above., being difficult was always the point and this game is still the easiest compared to their previous games.

Go play something else and stop crying, this game is not for you, the entire world is not about you.

not really an accurate argument showing characters with already optimised builds and all the gear and upgrades they need for said builds and a pre nerf mimic.

i agree the game gets super easy once you have your items and your build setup properly. id argue it gets easy way before that point cos ive been playing hard and competitive games since the 80's and 90's :P

but its not that 'easy' for the vast majority. not everyone has great reactions, pattern recognition, adaption and learning ability.
and i think that's fine.
however i also think not every game needs to have modes that make the entire thing trivial because its "too hard" for some. just means you need to put in the patience and time to learn the systems and mechanics properly and get better at the game.

Unless platforming is involved.

@OP
Because if the devs make something unfair look hard but still give the fans ways to deal with - even if that means circumventing core mechanics, or getting spared by good boss RNG, rather than overcoming it - they'll feel like they beat something hard and can keep touting their git gud horns till the next installment.
