but since dying 20 times because of my character not dodging at all leaves a sour taste.
Really to just comes down to what you're use to. Play a lot of games like dmc where precision is required and you notice it immediately.
OP, sometimes the game does eat inputs but dodge is on release and not press. I hated it at first too until i realized you can use it to option select.
There is some annoying input queuing at times, though. But it can be avoided by not smashing buttons recklessly.

it allmost feels like playing an old mmorpg casting spells over and over again.
but thats a thing im fine with.
i know how the crucible knight works and i know how to avoid the stomp.
there are literally times where it simply doesn´t respond allthough i dodge it the same way everytime.
of course jump would be more beneficial but out of reflex i push dodge :P
