amber draught

did someone experiment with:

giving the draught (not the original potion) to dung eater or someone else? Since the draught seems intended for demigods, empyreans, then the only ones you can interact with are some dead bosses, Millicent, Ranni (does not work obv) and Rennala.

I just tried to give it to Ranni because I am at NG+ and don't really feel like completing the play through to experiment. I feel this item is well hidden and a bit convoluted to get, so here might be another use?

As far as everybody knows, it's only usable on Ranni, I tried on Gurranq but nothing

This is related to Selvius questiline. In Leyndell, there's a well hidden Amber Starlight (legendary key item) that you can get Selvius to craft a potion, he calls it draught. His intended use is to turn Ranni into a puppet, which is not possible since she is a doll manifestation to begin with, so the item is wasted on her .

I gave it to the Dung Eater in my playthrough, which makes him available as a purchasable puppet from Seluvis.

Probably we simply misunderstood his intentions and what he is trying to do is to remove the spirit and make another doll of the doll, if that makes sense
