Edgar Disappeared? Does That Mean No Shabriri Grape?

I started a second playthrough, planning on doing the Frenzied Flame ending, and I headed to Castle Morne to take care of Irina's quest so I could later get the Shabriri Grape. I went to Edgar, spoke to him, but had to close the game for a second. When I reopened it, however, Edgar was gone. What happened? Does this mean he won't show up later and won't give me the Shabriri Grape?

Did you check Irina's location? He's always either there or at the castle.

Update: He still was missing before I beat the boss, but once I finally did it, he spawned back.

I did castle Morne after meeting Hyetta so I missed Irina and Edgar's quest and he never appeared for me at the castle.

However he still invaded at the shack in Liurnia regardless so there is no need to do the quest to get the invasion for the grape.

if you do the grapes stuff all you get is a couple of items but you can get the ending without doing her quest.

Incorrect. I never spoke to Irina, unless the bare minimum I did was collect her letter but nothing else.
She died, Edgar never appeared in Morne and I still met Hyetta and got invaded by Edgar.

You literally can't. You complete her quest line by her naturally dying after you get the letter, death is the natural end of things, including quests. She ded, her quest is finished.

She needs to die not by your hand after receiving the letter. Later you need to have her dad's grape as well; so you either get the sword and make him a revenger, or you kill him for the grape.
