Is it that bad on PC? I was gifted it on Xbox and it has some really weird moments, but overall it played very well. I plan on buying it myself on Steam when I'm ready to start from scratch, so hopefully it's not too bad by that time.

  1. Disable full-screen optimization.
  2. Run game in Borderless-window.
  3. Set all settings to low, try 1600x900 and see if there's a difference, otherwise go 1920x1080.
  4. Turn on Game mode in Windows.
  5. Turn off Nvidia Overlay, Xbox Game Bar, Steam Overlay etc.
  6. Set shader cache to unlimited in Nvidia Control Panel.
  7. Set everything in 3D settings in Nvidia Control Panel to High Performance.
  8. Change your Energy Settings to High Performance.

Never, apparently. 60fps lock. Doesn't use CPU nor GPU properly, which causes either subpar performance or constant fps drops. Nier: Automata or Arkham Knight were bashed for this kind of stuff, but apparently you can get away if you're From Software.

Also, Dark Souls servers are still down. No one gives a ♥♥♥♥.

17-10875 is a laptop CPU so it's probably overheating and throttling back. Check your temps and buy a cooling pad.

I've got an RTX 2060 6GB. i7-10750H, 16GB RAM. I run the game on an external ADATA SSD. I generally have steady 60 frames on medium settings. I get the odd dip, but nothing like at launch.

Definitely this. I forgot my cord for my cooling pad last week, so I couldn't run it. Laptop was still running cooler than it would if it was sitting on a solid surface. That increased airflow works wonders.

in addition to everything described above, try the "process lasso" and "QuickCPU" programs (you can find a video about the settings on YouTube), you can also try configs for graphics, if you don't mind the picture quality

I have what I would assume is a powerful computer and the game does chug a lot, but it does not seem to put any strain on my cooling. I put it down to the game not being ported very well. You can tell a bad port when key commands are all over the place and some you need to click on screen and other on your KB. Also the have 3 different keys to do the exact same thing. :) And of course it runs like a broken moped.
I bet it's a smooth as silk on consoles though.

Still not fixed, eh? Shame... glad I refunded on day 1. I'll play it 5 years after everyone else, keeping with my From tradition.

If you're not interested in any of the online functionality, then download Flawless Widescreen, turn on all the options, play in offline mode, and watch your frames nearly double.

Can you play the game offline? I didn't know that.

people put up with bloodborne running at a framepaced 20fps average on ps4. fromsoft do not care about performance

Not all PCs are created equal. Some manufacturers simply make better boards. Some don't like to work well together. How you Windows is set up, does it have bloat or other processes running in the background? Everything effects performance.

Game runs fine, has since week 1.

your PC sucks.

We already know this isn't the case. There were many people with very hefty rigs that had issues with this game...
