Killed him with a Godslayer GS my first time through.
On one side you have magic that just destroys every enemy from a safe distance, on the other hand you have melee players with barely any range that have to constantly pass vast distances to get to an enemy that then just moves further away.
My friends who played magicians were freaking out when i told them that i killed the Fire Giant in my second attempt using the horse.
Simply because as a melee player (Caestus, so extreme melee) have to deal with problems they are never facing.
They could just stand there and shoot their magic stuff from a distance, then get rolled over and die instantly.
Meanwhile i know as a melee player that my most valuable resource is movement.
And thats where the only recommendation for you kicks in as a melee player. SInce movement is the key resource you have, you need ways to gain as much of it as possible.
Thats means:
Low weight
Bloodhound Step
Fast attack speed
If you can in any way, pick bloodhound step as your weapon ability.
It allows you to close the gaps faster and pass larger distances, it allows you to evade enemy attacks, especially AoE or wide attacks (his laser beams, his "i come down from the sky"-attacks.) and its dead cheap to be used.
Paired with low weight and a weapon that attacks fast, you simply spare tons of resources.
Even when he warps away, you can just run to him, use bloodhound step and get a few fast hits.
And when he attacks, bloodhound step in his direction, you avoid the attack and already closed the gap to his body.
While standing at his body, when you see that a lightning strike is about to hit you, bloodhound step to the side.
You avoid the lightning strike and you can continue to hit him.
This also works for other enemies of that type, like Dragons, Astel or the Fire Giant.
Bloodhound Step is also useful in many dungeons and other enemies, not only to avoid them, but to simply close the gap to them and get into range.
It saves time and gives you a larger window for attacks. Its super viable in PvP and actually counters a lot of the meta builds.
Its possibly the most valuable weapon art/ash of war in the game.
Which is sad, because it shouldnt be that way.
