Question about Dark Moon Greatsword

dose the INT on Dark Moon Greatsword also effect the normal R1 (( controller)) damage when im not using the ice ability or is it only for the magic R" side of things..

been wondering if raising STR will do more for my R1 ability or INt.

i think you know what im trying to get at though

Im new to the Dark Moon Greatsword so im trying to find out the best thing i can do so i dont mess uo

Intelligence does improve the damage of the weapon also for just hitting enemies, eventually you will want to start speccing into Dex when you get to 80 INT and at the end strength or faith or whatever you think is better

how come dex over STR? also simce im 118 im trying to figure out where i want to put my stats into i know INT important.. but how do i do the other ones

Because dexterity also improves your casting speed for spells while strength benefits your physical resistance, you should in theory be using the darkmoon greatsword in one hand and a staff in other and abusing the power and flexibility of spells.

oh i was not planning to use many spells at all, was mostly going to use the Dark Moon Greatsword r2 ability on boss fights and normal r1 on trash mobs .. trying to stay mostly melee with a bit of magic from the sword

oh i was not planning to use many spells at all, was mostly going to use the Dark Moon Greatsword r2 ability on boss fights and normal r1 on trash mobs .. trying to stay mostly melee with a bit of magic from the sword

Well I think that's a waste of all the spells Ranni gives you like Adula's Moonblade, Icecraft or Dark Moon, but if you want to go that route I suppose that's fine. I recommend watching this video for more ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8-CC9VcFiI

For casting speed use the Radagon Icon talisman (gives 30 virtual dex) and only level up to 40 Dex since casting speed is capped at 70.

iv already seen that one, only problem is is since the update things have changed a little bit.. but its where i got a rough idea to challange myself, i was mainly going to two hand the Dark Moon Greatsword and use its r2 ability on bosses and larger enamys.. but it seems i can put my points into INT and have my r1 un ice buff do damage.. just trying to figure out the best way to go about it like.. 40 vig, 30 mind 20 end , the requirements for STR and DEX.. which lucky is normal for me due to my class then the rest in INT

I think if that's what you want to do that's fine, I like when my builds connect in many meaningful ways to provide me the best results for my points, so I like high scalings on my weapons, and strong flexible builds whether I spec into faith or intelligence for utility, that's how I like to play but i also can understand an all or nothing only darkmoon specially after the buffs. Just bear in mind if you want to only use a magic sword the entire playthrough or if there's something else you would like to do to switch your playstyle up.

I use greatsword phalanx and darkmoon on main hand for my main build to rack up staggers trying to abuse the stagger potential of weapon art itself, best I can recommend is come up with the way to have the most fun.

the idea what i wanted came from this build, if you go to the stats it seems perfect.. though the vig is a bit.. eh quetionable.. though since im 118 in level i could put those points into vig to try get it to 40.

I think 40 vigor is bare minimum, and by later stages you should at most max out one damage stat and then get to 60 vigor.

I think 40 vigor is bare minimum, and by later stages you should at most max out one damage stat and then get to 60 vigor.

Yeah that sounds great to me, just hurry up finding a somber ancient dragon smithing stone for that +10
