Malenia is impossible for a faith build..

Literally first boss I've determined I cannot do with my build, period. Probably the only one, my most damaging spells can't hit because she auto dodges them because fun isn't allowed, My physical spells? Dodged, aside from crucible horn that even with my maxed seal, flock and faithful talisman, and 80 faith, does only 977 damage, which is a tickle fight for her compared to the charge time required to stagger her and not die for using it. Nothing I have does damage even with a maxed out faith build, I cannot hurt her, her resistances are too high, I soloed her in both my previous runs, strength and dexterity, but she is outright impossible for this. Not enough damage, not enough time, too much charging, too much dodging. I get the game is balanced around melee, but why let me pick a faith class at all if its gonna be trash.

Edit:I finally beat her, basically had to no hit the fight to win, radagon's soreseal basically killed me I feel

she doesn't have a lot of health , but she heals herself nonstop. if you don't want to use weapons at all and only incantation.

golden vow, blackflame protection. for your defence

Catchflame / Oflame
lightning spear
Giantflames take thee
stone of gurranq
swarm flies ( don't know since the nerf )
Wrath of gold

they should all work great on her. of course you still need to time the casting.

Special note about Flame of the Fell god, she will fall on her a** if she get hit and she doesn't really enjoy the fire on the ground. lot of people hate it, i don't.

I finally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did it! Didn't need to respec. This was the hardest time I've had with her in any run. Also funny thing, the victory I got with the faith build is the first time I've ever no hit Malenia. She didn't get to heal at all, so feels good man.

Tbh, i think its because I only have 40 vigor, and radagon's soreseal. I think that was letting her attacks one shot me, since typically if I died at all, it was a big attack I mistimed, or got impatient with. Faith is squishy, and I'm not the best with that. Thanks for the advice tho. Tbh I stopped using anything other than lightning spear with the occasional catch flame

but radagon soreseal boost her dmg by a lot... as soon as you reach mountain top you need to get rid of that.

Tbh, I would have, if I could have made my build work by SL 135 without it. My fashion souls demanded particular armor, and without it to reach both my dex requirement for the daggers I use for no mana, and to equip my armor, i couldn't make it work oof.

Also scarlet Aoenia is super pretty :) Idk how effective, but pretty enough to feel worth it

im working on another character that doesn't use faith. so ill try that very soon. I used it a bit before the buff, now it must be useful against some bosses.

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but Black Flame Ritual worked really well for me against Malenia. Staggers her, and provides some zone control and clears up any frostbite if that's a part of your build. I used it before the patch that buffed its damage too.

One of mimics constantly spammed her with Giants Flame take thee and decimated her.

You're joking right? Start with blade of death twice to cut her HP by a good margin, spam Giantsflame Take Thee and Taker's Flame and have fun watching her trying to get up.

I helped a LOT of people just stunlocking her all the time.

I'm not joking. Hardest fight I've had, and all three playthroughs I've done, I have soloed her, no phantoms or spirits. The one for faith was the hardest, since she just kept slapping me out of my animations. I was way better as a strength and dex build over a caster, not that it matters now that I've won.

If you're used to melee, then I feel like catch flame ought to have been more than enough for the first phase. Then save your biggest nuke for her flower attack because you get like 10 seconds to blast away at her each time she uses it. Well, I don't know if faith has something like that for small targets though. I think stuff like death lightning or ancient dragon lightning strike only work well on big targets?

Maybe black blade or flame of the fell god would be decent nukes for the flower attack? I really ought to make a faith build sometime I guess so I know what I'm actually talking about...
