Crimson Amber Medallion +2 or Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman?
Which one would be best for tanking if I can only pick one?

I'd personally take negation first, as it's a percentage of damage you actually avoid taking. Per the wiki it's 20% negation with one or 8% more hp with the other.

Good question...before the patch is say great shield...idk anymore tho...

You can raise vigor in tons of other ways is all...and only so much is really needed

Plus...wouldn't negating damage reduce the need for high vigor anyway?

Depends on what your tanking! Physical or everything else? :UnamusedOwlcat:
I know this doesn't really answer the op but...

I always keep a talisman slot fluid depending on who or what im fighting. I have a dedicated slot for a defensive talisman that I swap out for every big fight depending on what their damage type is. With that being said, I think the dragoncrest shield talisman is better because almost everything has physical damage in some sort.

Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman is heavily nerfed for PvP, so for that I think the Crimson amber medallion is better, probably. Otherwise you probably can't go wrong with either one of them for PvE.

Everything but mainly physical. I just want to know if the extra health would help me tank more hits than the damage reduction and I'm bad at math

Yup definitely confused it and that definitely the correct answer...it is just physical damage iirc...but 20% off each hit is huge...it depends on what your fighting OP but 9/10 times the dragon crest is your answer.

Yep you will definitely get more miles out of the Dragon Crest normally. The extra health from the amber will help more against anything that doesn't do physical though.

+HP helps against Light/DOT/Clip damage from regular mob but Dragoncrest Greatshield and HP are a combo that help tanking more hit from the heavier attack like from mini-boss and boss.

Then again +HP is entirely depending on your base HP (vigor). If you have tiny vigor I don't think +HP by % would worth the slot. For reference at 60 Vigor you have 1900. With Crimson and Morgott Great rune activated, you will have around 600 more HP, that 600 definitely see effective again Light/DOT/Clip damage from regular mob I mentioned above but against boss, that's probably tanking one more single attack. It's also depending on damage negation, if you have none, that HP boost might as well be worthless.

Also note that if you're planning to use Dragoncrest alongside the stats/damage boosts tailsman that increase damage taken. It's likely not helping that much, maybe instead of 1-2 hits, you might be able to tank one more hit with that.

The ring is 8% more HP.
The shield talisman is 20% less damage taken in PVE.
Is this really not clear?
The only times you want the HP ring over the shield one is when you are fighting something dealing elemental damage or in pvp.
