How fun is Faith?
Title. I beat the game twice now, first as a dex build using twin Guardian's Keen Swordspears, one with bloodhound step the other with impaling thrust. Beat it the second time as a strength build powerstancing the claymore and knight greatsword, using lighting slash and the Mario Jump attack I forget the name of. To platinum the game I need to beat the game a third time, and was wondering how good faith was. Thematically a faith build would make the most sense for the frenzied flame ending, but I'm curious as to if people have fun making cleric builds

It starts a little slow on NG but you got some very interesting tools later on. Wide variety of incantations and faith scaling weapons to choose from. Very versatile since you got access to holy, fire and a bunch of status effects.

It's the best build in the game. Buffs up the wazoo and heals for days. You have your pick of weapons and can even make katanas sacred.

Faith is a lot of fun. The pyro incantations are a little disappointing, but lightning/holy and dragon stuff is a lot of fun.

Cipher Pata / Coded Sword with faith is absurd. Just keep in mind, they're not viable in the last fight.

it would be good if ancient dragon lighting strike wasnt put in the very last zone by some idiot dev. most bosses are dead by the time you get it. no i dont count wrong warp as a legit method of getting it. thats cheating to me.

faith is very versalite. really good for pve but most of the hard hitting spells suck in pve aswelll due to zero hyper armor and stupid slow windups + melee range spells for some reason. faith could really see some spells buffed to make more viable than just lobbing lighting spears and rotten breaths at everything.

for pvp tough most spells outright suck for faith. youll never hit someone unless you suprise them from behind. lighting spears tracking is nonexistant compared to certain sorcerer spells.

a few good weapons tough. sadly doesnt compare with the broken bleed builds at all currently (nothing does really)

but for pve youll always have the right tool available.
sadly too many good faith weapons are also lategame items again due to poor dev descions on placement of them. way too much good faith stuff is inside the royal city.

coded sword deserves and S scaling in faith tough. like for real. its a PURE FAITH weapon and scales with nothing else and has next to zero posture dmg. atleast give it that s in faith ffs. the weaponart is trash.

like most dex weapons get an S in dex but also scale with other stats slightly. this thing doesnt get an S despite not scaling with anything else. plus too easy to negate in pvp aswell. holy charm +2 bam its dmg is cut by 1/3.

youll never hit anything worthwhile with it as its windup takes way too long. cipers weapon art atleast comes out quick and has a use in pvp.

Just started a prophet and im amazed.
Usually im a dagger guy but it just doesnt feel satisfying in the long term. Hopefully faith does.

Anyway.. moving through the first mine at the big lake was a cakewalk.
Firespell is onehitting all the workers and the stone giant at the end was killed in a matter of seconds.

Im curious about how it will perform in later stages.

100% immune and heals for damage dealt instead
Starkregen Apr 5, 2022 @ 3:32pm
-high faith requirement

-melee range

-insane cast time

-no hyperarmor

-high fp cost

-less damage than hitting with your sword twice

this is like 90% of all the incantations,
GONDAL Apr 5, 2022 @ 3:33pm
i did a golden order themed fai build and it was easily the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, dumbest faith build ever. Even with a buffed seal and lots of Fai the spells don't do like anything at all, despite their flash and glamour. It ended up just being pure melee because the spells couldn't compete with the ol' poke and slash

I assume that means Lightning will likely be my friend if I try to go full caster then. Unless that does holy too

sadly true. youll use lighting spear for most of the game. why? its one of very few good faith ranged spells for pve. if moron devs nerf that faith is nothing but a melee build aswell.

high tier incants need some serious buffing currently. aside ancient dragon lighting strike. that thing breaks pve. but sadly moron dev put in in farum azula means : game is over by the time you get your hands on it.

Him and radagon are HEAVILY resistant to holy.

Incant's have good utility buffs, but besides some really good outlier ones, a lot of the damage ones could use a balance pass for various issues.
MisterRed Apr 5, 2022 @ 3:36pm
Based on the replies, it sounds like Faith is going to be pure pain to experience. I figured godskin stuff and lightning/red lightning would be really cool
