ELDEN RING
Crucible Knight, is there an actual legitimate way to fight these guys?
That doesn't involve staying at long range, summoning, or using the biggest shield you can? I used the fingerprint stone shield enchanted with Barricade just to see how long I would last and what his patterns were. He never stopped attacking. Did 5 attacks, followed by a fire breath, followed by 4 more attacks, with no break in between. He also seems to be immune to backstabs and stagger. I ended up relying on the shield and poking him to death. Am I missing something?

This may sound counterintuitive but despite what the casuals suggests, parrying is your best bet to fighting them without taking too much damage or risking rolling off a cliff, etc. if you truly want to be a souls vet, learn the timings of parrying and you will see this game is actually pretty ez, not to mention the exhilarating feeling you get from successfully pulling off parries on an enemy many deem “challenging”. The sword and halberd variants are pretty easy imo, the spear one is a lil tricky. But like they say, practise makes perfect.

Crucible knights for me are my favourite enemies as they truly test my skills as a souls player. If there’s one thing I wish is that there are more of them in the game not just 14!

try parry

i mean...i don't know what to tell you?
playing
a mage : parry
a colossal weapon str dude : parry
a Hawkeye-bow-user : parry
a light weapon spellblade : parry
mighty Sigmar having crossed over from Warhammer wielding weapons of FAITH : parry
run naked into the fight with just a dagger equipped : parry

the first (normal progression path) Knight down in the hidden area of Stormveil is there to teach you; there's a reason you get the Buckler in Stormveil...it's called good game design; it's the same reason why there's so little room where you fight this Knight: to teach you how to parry.

the only attacks where you either gotta space, dodge or block are his FAITH attacks; so lure his normal attacks: parry'n dodge all shinies.
believe you me once you get how parry works nearly Crucible Knights will become easy pickings. :er_heart:
If you don't want to go range, Bloodhound's Finesse after the shield bash and the drag-attack is a solid solution. Does decent damage too, so it doesn't end up being a slog.

If you manage the backflip AND the dash attack + 1 more jump attack, you may even poise break him. He usually doesn't allow that, though.

Most of the free range knights, you can just punt off some cliff or bait their winged charge, so they kill themselves like the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ they are.

You are a little individual, passive agressive.
How insane are you to chase me down on other topics and taunt with "casual" while hidding ?
Man up a bit, if you display this kind of snake personnality on the web, I can only imagine the kind of moral bully and coward you are in real life, only insulting from the shadows.

Begone, O disgrace to human kind.

This.
Since they often do not allow the follow up bloodhound step or jump attack, I found it easy to bait them in an attack from mid range so that there's enough time to start bloodhound finesse. If timed correctly, he will run into your attack while you make a jump backwards. From there just repeat the process (just make sure there room behind you).
For my sorcery character, I just used Carian Slicer for the early game Crucible Knights, because it's fast enough that there's plenty of openings you can attack. Another way was to bait attacks by running and then outspace them and punish with a glintstone pebble.

For all the later game Crucible knights, I'd just blow them up. Like get the infinite FP flask, then ambush with Ranni's Moon>comet, or something like that. They'll be at half health before they even turn around, and the spear knights would just die.

For the boss fight with 2 crucible knights, I think I had the greatshield soldiers spirit ash tank. Killed the spear knight first, then the other.

I could beat the early game Crucible Knights with any build at this point, as long as I have a fast weapon. The only thing I struggle with still are the tail attacks. I haven't tried anything besides sorcery for the late game Crucible Knights though.

You sir are a delusional fool to think anyone gives a ♥♥♥♥ what you think or say. If you have nothing constructive to say maybe just learn to shut it. It’s better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

These forums ain’t yours and if you are a freakin casual who got butthurt by my general comment I suggest you Git Gud and stop trolling the forums with your pathetic non constructive and brain dead remarks.

Just learn his move set and dodge. It may take a awhile because they are actually tough

My strategy with them, before acquiring experience and better gear and weapons, was to bait them. They have a few attacks they tend to chain one after the other, leaving some windows for us to attack. Provoke them from mid to short range, roll once, poke once or twice, rinse and repeat. Be patient and forsworn your greed: otherwise it will stomp, poise break you, and turn you in minced meat.

He didn‘t call YOU a casual directly right?
Are you mentally wo weak that you get a depression when someone calls you a casual?

This whole forum is filled with snowflakes, i guess i am to old to get mad about nothing, unlike you.
tricky to dodge, but you can easily punish some attacks,i try to be passive against them and it works
It was difficult when I did it with the colossal greatsword. What ended up working for me was using the Lion Claw ash of war as it could reliably stagger them long enough to not just trade hits every time. Just using a faster weapon in general is probably a simpler and easier strat though.
Maybe this counts as cheesing, but golden parry makes them a joke (and not a funny one) so feel free to try it... even a normal parry should work I guess.

I know it sounds basic, but... half their attacks can be rolled through and immediately punished, even mid combo. If you're using a really slow weapon then you're going to have to be more patient and jump attack when you anticipate the end of the combo. Crucible knights are just as prone to mixups as any other boss, but they still follow patterns. And they can in fact be staggered.

Like someone else mentioned, roll behind them for the easiest opportunity.

Depends which one you're dealing with, i assume Ordovis since you meet the Siluria ones only after

Crucible Knights have lengthy combos -if you keep staying in front- they will reset their attacks if you move around them, in 1st phase 99% of their attacks don't actually hit you if you're behind them, the hitboxes are also very precise so you can crouch, jump or walk around them to avoid the attacks and strike

Also, when they rise the shield, hit them, count to three and then dodge, they will ALWAYS do a delayed shield bash with no variable timing, and with precise timing, you can punish them HARD due to the endlag on it.

I adore fighting Crucible Knights tbh, they're immune to pretty much every status effect and is truly just a mano-to-mano swordfight prowess battle, cheese with no form of actual battle knowledge wont help you with them.
