Varre quest is not fair

Some people are overleveled in their further NG runs like me so I cant find a host to invade. Also I dont have access to internet at the moment so I cant even invade. This is mostly a single player game so it shouldnt involve mp to progress in single player.

There are NPC invades you can do instead because the devs realised a lot of players were at a much farther stage than new players. The sign is located at Writheblood Ruins in the Altus Plateau, just West of the Minor Erdtree

There’s an npc invasion setup, in the blood ruins in Altus. Just across from the bridge that takes you to Gelmir. You don’t need to invade anyone.

hm. i did it recently, but it was before the patch. previously, i did it by going online and getting ganked 3 times. invasions really do seem to suck

each gank took 10 minutes to find and they all had multiple people

so you used the lynchpin and invaded 3 times and it worked? Ive done that too and the quest wont proceed. Varres ♥♥♥♥♥ ass just says to use the fingers

i power leveled right before the DLC dropped (NPC invasion) but i don't know the patch didn't break it. my online invasions were at least 6 months ago. with Varre's fingers, yeah

i'm sorry, it sounds pretty frustrating. i see that you verified files also. i think if it was a bug, more people would have complained, so i bet it's specific to you, but i have nothing to add. good luck to you

If you can't do Varre's quest. There is a waygate in the consecrated snowfield that takes you to mohgwyns palace. You need to find the Haligtree secret medallions, one is in Castle Sol after killing Commander Niall, the other is given to you by Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics, he is disguised as a pot. take those medallion pieces to the grand lift of rold and there with be a prompt you can switch to that will take you to the snowfield. then just go north west and youll have to fight a sanguine noble, then the waygate is available for use.

That thread refers to an older version of the game in which it's not possible to finish Varre quest without invading players.

i have beat magnus idek how many times and instead of varre progressing his questline, he just keeps telling me to use the fingers. And when i revisit the npc invasion spot, it says i need to invade him again. Ive let Magnus kill me 10 times and ive beaten him 10 times. Nothing works.

That thread refers to an older version of the game in which it's not possible to finish Varre quest without invading players.

Then update the game and play the same version as everyone else? Then that will suddenly open up 2 avenues to complete the quest...

You can complete it offline by killing the red NPC (Magnus) in Altus Plateau (Writheblood Ruins). Doing this replaces the step with the PvP stuff.

You don't really need internet to complete it. There is a NPC you can invade in the Altus Plateau by some ruins with slimes. Invade and kill that NPC. There is a red sign for it.

Doing that should complete the quest.

Yeah they ended up fixing this quest that you can invade an NPC but you need access to the lift to reach it.

I know it must have sucked on console, more or less being told that if you wanted to finish this quest, you had to unjustly pay for online to do it. made me glad i stopped bothering consoles.
