Varre quest is not fair

Some people are overleveled in their further NG runs like me so I cant find a host to invade. Also I dont have access to internet at the moment so I cant even invade. This is mostly a single player game so it shouldnt involve mp to progress in single player.

There's an npc you can invade northwest on Altus Plateau.

Alright, I'm gonna break this down for you.

Matchmaking is based off your weapon reinforcement and level.

So if you're getting wrecked by players in an invasion, it's not because they're super powerful or anything, they're simply better than you.

This isn't a "mostly single player game", as online play has been a major part of these games since Demon's Souls, so some side quests will require online play.

Even then, there is a way to do it while offline, and someone already made a guide on how to do it offline.

not sure if this has been said already, but varre's quest requiring you to invade 3 players. . you can just invade and then immediately use the finger severer to leave and still get credit for it.

also, there's an NPC later that you can invade instead to get the credit for it if you don't want to invade players.

i suspect i'm just responding late, since this post is a year old. . .

You do realise the post you're responding to was written over a year ago? Before the offline method of completing the quest was added?

Not to mention you blatantly didn't read what he was complaining about. He wasn't getting any invasions cos he was overlevelled =/= complaining that he's getting beaten cos people must be overlevelled.

You don't need Varre's quest to progress the game in any way. Online exclusive items / content has always been a thing in the souls games. Be thankful that this game doesn't have covenants that require you to successfully kill 30+ people in invasions / co-op depending on covenant in order to unlock equipment / spells. Varre is literally the only thing that requires you to invade.

How can you avoid Varre's quest? I am currently unable to go past Maliketh, and I would not mind getting to a better grinding place than Lenne's rise. Is that possible?
edit: I had to resort to a cheese to beat Niall!

You can also use a teleporter to get there from consecrated snow field. Just need to get past a sanguine noble that drops its set, and a walking nuke dispenser to use it.

It is 100% a mostly singleplayer game. You are being absolutely absurd if you think online play makes up over 50% of any of these games. There is even a dedicated setting to turn online off entirely, and guess what? The game functions just fine with that setting on. I'm not sure if there even are any online-required side quests in any of the games (now that they changed Varre's); most if not all of the covenant items are farmable, for example, so you would need an example for this point to stand at all.

As I already put in the very post that you quoted... you can choose to invade three (3) players and do not need to defeat them... Varré's quest only requires you invade them.

I started a new game, and went early against Magnus, but that one defeat did not count.

If you choose to go up against Magnus, you need to win once or invade three (3) times. Never said one failed invasion would be enough.
