Malenia with vs without bloodhound

I had two playthroughs, both times I fought Malenia alone. In the first I used bloodhound step because thats fun, and in the second I was challenged, since apparently bloodhound step too OP, and therefore I didn't beat the game. Beating it again hasn't been too hard. But the first boss to actually make me struggle without it, is Malenia. I still won, but it requires a lot of precision when you can't bloodhound out of a bad situation. Took me 11 attempts on my second try, compared to 28 the first one. Probably my favorite boss fight, but she is super hard, especially without my weird anime dash

I've beaten her without Bloodhound.
I did, however, use Flame of the Redmanes.

I used the fingerprint shield personally. Didn't even know people had a hard time with her tell I told my friend it took me 5 tries lol

The trick with malenia and with many bosses is not to roll away from but roll towards when she does her waterfowl dance. Basically she spams it 3 times. first one you want to fall back from. second dodge in. if you do that the third usually won't even be in your direction. Also when facing them always dodge towards them on the side that does not carry the weapon.

You don't even have to dodge it. The long windup to the waterfowl dance is staggerable

Yeah, I do know that, but it can be really hard to pull off. Even if I'm certain of my rolls sometimes I get hit 2-3 times. The other guaranteed escapes ive had were when I had distance. Run the first two, roll into the third. That was the only situation where I felt 100% secure

I honestly had no idea you could do that. I'll have to try that when I try do do a faith build next, see if I can strike her from the sky, as mentioned though, i already beat her with this dude, but it was difficult

Tbh, I haven't tried the fingerprint shield, but I have heard its pretty insane rn, was it really that effective? Game seems to have a lot of really crazy weapons
