Possible double stutter fix (Controller issue)
I might have finally fixed my double stutter problem, where the game will occasionally stutter twice with a short interval between. If you are using a controller, especially an Xbox One controller, try updating the firmware. Install the Xbox Accessories app through the Microsoft Store and see if your controller needs a firmware update. As of playing for about 2 hours, it seems to have solved the stuttering for me. If that doesn't work, try plugging your controller into a USB 2.0 port instead of 3.0, I haven't done this but from google searching this can fix some issues with Xbox One controllers.

For the longest time I thought this was a shader cache issue as it feels similar to DX12 caching stutters in other games. But one time I partially pulled the cord out of my controller and got insane stuttering, which made me think it was a controller issue. It seems that the Xbox One controller was occasionally removing and re-adding itself in the Device Manager. Something to do with the way the game switches/detects controller input leads to brief stutters.

I have found that Official Xbox Controllers can cause issues. I had a faulty Xbox Elite Series 2 and got a lot of stutter and frame drops in games. Even when it wasn't faulty, I got disconnects regularly. I now use a PowerA Fusion Pro 2 and have a lot less problems.

Turns out it wasn't my controller, I just had a long string of good luck until the stutters returned. It was Xvd disk drives from having played Xbox gamepass games. This seems to have finally fixed it:

I found a good way to troubleshoot this. Play with the Device Manager open, preferably with dual monitors. Click View -> Show Hidden Devices, then click View -> By Connection. Make sure all the nodes are collapsed, and watch for when the game stutters, in this case it should coincide with a refresh of the Devices and actually open to the node that is causing the refresh. In my case it was a bad Corsair device and so far just disabling the device seemed to help.

That's how I found out it was the Xvd disk drives causing it. Since I uninstalled the xbox Gaming Services app as described in that thread, the issue is finally gone.

Exact same issue, except it was my living room TV refreshing under my multimedia devices. Disabled it and the issue went way. Was almost ready to quit playing Elden Ring.

I did quit for the most part after getting so frrustrated with the stuttering. Im like 100 hrs in, first playthrough too... Love the game, but hate that it stutters like this. I think disabling the "game services" worked for me so far. Using an official Xbone Controller over the "Wireless Adapter for Windows". Only seems to be From Software games that do this particular stutter for me though.
