Broadsword vs Noble's slender sword
Is the sacrifice in damage really worth the reach for nobles slender sword? just for PvE

I was using the lordsworns straight sworld (heavy) and I think if I could go back I would use the broadsword.

negligible difference either way. If you are looking for reach you should be looking out side of the straight sword catagory.

I'm not looking for reach. I'm looking for a straight sword, and all the guides so far have said that the nobles slender sword edges out the broadsword BECAUSE it has more reach.

However I'm wondering if that reach is really worth the hit in damage that you take by swapping over to it

Focus more on the scaling. Broadsword scales better with STR and the Slender sword scales with DEX.

are you going dex? really depends what your going for with stats, scaling and affinity.

explain? they both have A scaling on heavy and it looks like the broadsword still outdamages the nobles slender sword if you were to go dex

Looking at them online it looks like the Slender sword gets more out of scaling than the broadsword. C in DEX where the other has D in STR. Slender also has a higher critical modifier, so if you are doing a lot of backstabs/ parries/ otherwise hitting an enemy when they are down then slender sword will give more damage.

I think the noble's slender sword being any good was something of a joke. It does have a slight reach advantage and the scaling does go up to "A" but that scaling is never enough to offset the lower base damage when compared to the broadsword.

I'd recommend the lordsworn's straight or the longsword over the broadsword. Has a better rolling poke with almost the same damage potential. Lordsworn at low level then Longsword at high level.

Ah I was looking at base stats not modified. In that case, yeah broadsword wins out simply because it has higher base damage. Ofcourse Crit is still something to take into account. Do you get a lot of backstabs/ parries/ Poise breaks on enemies/ other cases where crit comes in?

Edit. on further thought, go with broadsword. If you want to worry about Crit then you can pick up the Misericorde in stormveil and apply the heavy modifier to it for B scaling on STR, and that weapon does 140 crit. Do note I have not used crit much so I dont know how useful it is.

In PVP, yeah the length probably makes a difference. In PVE? It does not matter, you will get used to either length. You said it was just for PVE.

For PVP length matters allot more because you want as large of a hit box as possible due to bad internet connections, you wont know exactly where you need to hit, so bigger hit box really matters.

For PVE, difference is negligible. I would go for damage in PVE over a small difference in reach any day.

ehhhh, I'm just doing run of the mill sword and board. The extra 10% on crit seems nice but really i just have a few bosses to go to beat the game and getting crits on bosses is exceedingly rare so it doesnt factor in too much.

I believe the Lordsworn has higher crit damage wich is a nice bonus.

Longsword, Broadsword, and Lordsworn's all end up with higher AR with keen affinity than the Noble's Sword even with 80 dex. Higher base damage slightly overtakes the higher scaling letter. The only time Noble's sword is higher is at Standard affinity, but since keen still allows you to buff and offers higher AR there's no reason not to go keen anyway. Only reason to go with Noble's sword over Lordsworn's is for slightly more reach or fashion.

I don't think this is something you can break down with numbers. The better weapon is the one you're more comfortable using.

Ah I should've read more. You can use the AR Calculator and put your stats in to see how much of a damage difference you'll get between them at max level. If you're going more DEX it won't be a big difference, if you're going STR it ends up around 50-55 AR.
