Seedbed curse and Dung Eater

Are those balls? I've only just reached the mountaintop and was thinking about the events in Leyndell with the LOATHSOME DUNG EATER. His motives are to curse people for generations to come right? How does that happen with the person dead and balls gone? Is reincarnation proven in this world and what happened being those cursed will be born with cursed balls and their descendents will be born with cursed balls too? And does that mean you are gathering balls for him to eat? And that he will birth a Rune from those balls? Am I on the right track?
But then why is he locked in the sewer below the castle? Did they find out and punished him, being what we see at the start with him hanging, and how is he alive after that? What is his relation with Godwyn, Marika, Radagon, Morgott and Mohg? Who locked him up? Himself? Is that why he had the key?

Plain and simple, I can get behind that.
Did I missed any part about how he was still alive despite being shown he was hanged earlier on? I kinda have a feeling that someone kept him alive and wanted to curse everyone too.
Felt that I had missed some stuff. Might do another run to see what's up, since I had other questions for other questline too. Like Ranni and the other 2 sisters, missed Nepali quest halfway through, Alexander still in starscourge after exhausting dialogue. Would probably give in and Google on the lore after 3rd play through.

Right, I actually missed Ofnir since he hadn't left too much impression on me during my playthrough but now that you mentioned it, yeah.

Also Horrah Loud in the intro is impaled in the chest by mutple weapons and seems to be strung up.

I've actually only seen the "Gold" version of him and my currently assumption is his spirit being bounded here by duty to protect the castle, the throne and erdtree. Didn't know he is still alive.
Reminds me of Rodgier that you seen dead in Stormveil but is actually just dying slowly in the Roundtable Hold, or how Yura is dead but he is saying he got possessed in the first part of mountaintop. Probably very different thing. People don't die when they are killed.

I see, Rennela also had me questioning the whole rebirth and revive concept in this game, also seeing how Sellen move from body to body and ended up as a rock and Ranni as a puppet made me question about how souls and spirit works in this game, along with how Dung Eater led me to the thought that curse could be tied to your soul. My next playthrough will offer me different perspectives now that I'm more aware of what is going on and what to keep a look out for. Looking forward to it.

No. He is pulling the souls from people's arseholes. See Kappa from ♥♥♥. mythology.

The real secret is that your character is Miquella, and together with his Empyrean (the adopted children of the god, true children of the god's consort as opposed to full children) sisters he has plotted to overthrow Marika and end the current order. He could not do this with his Empyrean form for the same reasons that Ranni could not (as Empyreans they were under the control of the greater will, only the Tarnished can defy it). It is noted everywhere that Miquella is brilliant and intelligent, he was the brains; but he needed willing followers to do tests with. He has been dabbling with trying to overthrow the current order for a while, even attempting to make his own source of power like the Erdtree, the Haligtree (which eventually died) which his sister Malenia guards. There are several other examples of him trying to re-bind souls to new objects, with the most obvious being his sister Ranni who he bound into the doll. Ranni/Melina even mentions that Torrent recognised YOU from the beginning, because Torrent can see the soul inside, he knew you were Miquella. Melina is also an Empyrean and clearly wants the current order destroyed. So Miquella hatched a plan so that he could defy the greater will and actually kill and replace Marika/Radagon and bring an end to the current order; that plan had the backing of his sisters, initially he tried to end their dominion with a new source of power, the Haligtree, but it died; then he realised he would have to kill them, and so hatched a new plan, had Godfrey assassinated to prove it was possible, then realising that he would need a stronger vessel to kill Marika, decided he needed to put his soul into a new one so that he could do it personally. Not wanting to mess up, and being the brains; he tested his plan by transporting Ranni's soul into a doll, and when he realised it would work, he got Melina to agree to find him and aid him on his quest, as his new body would have no memories of his old plan, so he would need guidance, and he trusted that Torrent would identify him.

So Miquella puts his soul in the Tarnished, a great warrior capable of killing gods; and so begins our tale.
