Is there a level range limit to gold summons?

I tried to leave a gold summon sign for a lower level boss out of curiosity and no hits. I'm level 100 +18 partisan, tried leaving a sign for godrick and nothing. Not that i wanted to waste 5 minutes to farm 1k souls or whatever but just curious how that works, if its what i think it is.

Yes, although passwords can bypass the limit.

With no password, you can only be summoned by someone who is within a certain level range of you and whose most-upgraded weapon is within a certain range of your most upgraded weapon. Same for invasions.

In theory if someone else near your level were going back to fight that boss, you could be summoned.

Yes, you are too high level to get summonned.

I think Godrick summon is around level 30 and weapons +5

is there a definitive range for the levels of SL and weapon upgrade? like +- 20 soul levels?

Anyways, this game is trash with unexplained mechanics so who can really know.

i dont know what the point would be of getting summoned for bosses you havent beat yet. I sunbro a couple times for the bosses i found fun but challenging everytime.

you can definitely be summoned for bosses you've already fought. The reason Santa here can't be summoned for Godrick is because *basically* nobody is fighting him at level 100 with weapons far above level 6. Granted, people could be going into NG+, but they likely wouldn't need help for him anyways. If you or/and your weapons are too high level compared to who would normally summon you, you cannot be summoned unless via password. For instance, a level 30 with a +4 weapon will most certainly not be able to summon a level 100 with a +18 weapon unless you used a multiplayer password

Yeah, I have many Dark Souls 1 memories of being invaded in the Undead Berg by someone low-level like me but with some crazy +10 Lightning Greatsword while I'm using my +2 Rapier. On that note I've beaten every Souls Game mainly using Rapiers. But yeah- people would basically sit around the early-game of DS1 and just murder all the weak, low-level people. I'd usually just run to the nearest bonfire so that I wouldn't have to go far to get my Souls back.

Luckily there's weapon ranges now, but people still try and figure out what does the most damage at the lowest possible level. I think in ER so far it's been bleed and that madness lazer?

I feel like i should be surprised that some people either have so much wasted free time to go through all that trouble just to smurf on low level players but i also played D2 in its heyday.. aint nothin changed apparently lol
