Alexander stuck at the radahn arena

So im up to farum azula, was going to do his questline like last time but he just talks about dreaming big. Is he currently bugged and is there a fix?

Not in my play thru no, I did it 3 times already. But it is possible you might have encountered a bug. The usual fix is just progress alone the storyline and check back after each boss or region unlock. Worked for me. At least.

I think you skipped a few steps there mate.

You are meant to find him in a different hole where you need to use a Oil Jar, and later at Mount Gelmir where hes bathing in lava, after that he moves to Farum Azula

I actually skipped that once and still find him in farum azula.

again ive done it before. this time he just seems to have different dialog and just talks to himself.

I am having exactly same issue. I searched online, and also posted here, many ppl have t he same issue, but no solution. I could roughly confirm this is a new bug introduced by 1.03.2.

The step where he is stuck in the ground and you need to use oil on him is not necessary in certain situations. However, you absolutely need to talk to him in Mt. Gelmir lava area. If you do not talk or can not talk to him there he will not move to Farum Azula.

Try to exhaust all of his dialogue in Radahns boss arena and then check his other possible locations. When I did this in my NG, I managed to make him appear in his earlier locations starting with the oil jar one I think. I had not encountered him before meeting him at Redmane castle in that playthrough.

He might need to be summoned to fight the fire giant before Faram Azula.

I always encounter him first at redmane castle. Anything before that isnt optional but you HAVE to talk to him before the radahn fight in the castle.

summoning isnt necessary like it used to be in past games thankfully.
