The amount of reused bosses and enemies is ridiculous
I wish the world was 1/2 as big, but with unique encounters rather than the huge amount of rehashed bosses/enemies that we have today.

After the capital it becomes glaringly obvious. It feels very cheap and rushed.

How many variations of gargoyle, tree sentinel, erdtree avatars, magma dragons, dragons do I have to fight before it gets old?

Yeah but then I wouldn't want the world to be smaller. I think it is one of the main appeals of the game.
Instead I'd wish that they would keep working on the game and add new stuff and rework existing cheap stuff like other mmo's out there. It would be great if they could remake Castle Redmane into a legacy dungeon like Stormveil with it's unique enemies and stuff for example.

Its the main point of the game.. idiots dont understand whats going on.. its a vast open world. Just because there isnt enemies patrolling every square inch, doesnt mean its also not full of obstacles, puzzles, traps, etc..

But yet they want it "smaller"

I have faith we are going to see some amazing DLC's in the future for this game. A few quests hinted as much, and there were a few data mined assets that also indicated there will be add on's coming.

Someone already compared DS1/2/3 and Elden Ring in term of ennemy type without taking the reskined ennemies in the total fr ER, and even then, Elden Ring had a bigger bestiary without the reskins
I'd like to see that comparison if you have a link to it.

Here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/tk4vk2/on_elden_rings_enemy_variety_and_how_it_compares/

He took the time to compare them, personnaly, i think we saw more the Copy/Paste ennemies in Elden Ring because how big the game is, and therefore, they needed to copy/paste more than any other of their games and became more visible, personnaly, i don't mind the reused bosses/mini-bosses as they are optionnal and on't really mind killing the same strong ennemie multiple times, but for main bosses, i like uniqueness and to me even the reused main bosses had something new when you meet them again, in the end, i feel like if the world was 50 to 30% smaller, and dungeons a little bigger and complex, it would have been a even better game

Hm some on that list I feel like were added just to inflate the numbers for ER. For example they listed the different versions of demi-humans wielding different weapons. Another example is numbers 1-3. Those are essentially the same model just different weapons, clothing, and postures. I mean if you take the time to look at the soldiers and knights in the game they just made up factions so they could place more of those around than what was needed. And I know someone is going to say "but the lore". Well they could have changed the lore to have different enemies under each faction. But that's apparently asking too much of a huge company. Unfortunately that doesn't list the enemies from DS2 and DS3 but just numbers.

I will agree with you on the last bit though. I just don't see myself replaying this one as much as I did DS1 & DS3.

If you look through the comments in that page you will see someone listed all the DS3 enemies using the same method the OP used and DS3 came out to 220 types where as ER is 140.

I didn't scroll down too far after seeing the end of the list and the numbers for the other games. Did that include the DLCs cause that would skew the data even if it was playing by the same rules the original list was.

I'm not sure since I didn't like DS3 and only played the DLC once so I wouldn't know which enemies are form the DLC, but he did list the names of all the enemies so if you want to look through it just go down to the comments and sort by "New" it will be the second comment.

That's what happens when you go too big for your own good in combination with running out of time.

He is listing the multiple versions of the same enemies. Such as Thrall with hand axe and Thrall with Greatsword. He should have specified it better. But the reason for repeats is cause the OP did it too, for example:
Demi-Humans (Sword & Shield)
Demi-Humans (Small & Agile)
Demi-Humans (Large With Big Club)

That's what I thought it was but I haven't taken the time to look through the other list yet.

Why basic Rat are listed 5 times, Giant rats 2 times, mimic 6 times and many also other ennemies sharing the same exact names listed multiple times ?

Actually, I started looking through it and there is a lot of repeats that are strange. I don't remember there being that many variants of the same enemy in DS3 such as 3 different Hollow Assassins. It is possible he's listing the same ones over and over, so I'm not sure now if that list is reliable.

Yeah, I'm wondering that now too. If you use Reddit you should ask him cause that is really strange.
