How are you supposed to realise what beating Radahn opens up? (spoilers)
After beating Radahn, a meteor opens a giant hole in the southern part of the map, which you can use to go to the Eternal City and several major bosses.

How in the world are you supposed to even realise this happens? I saw the meteor and thought "Hey, cool cinematic with no in-game importance" and only realised that it had opened a super important pathway when I was completely done with the game and had beaten the Elden Beast, and even then I only realised it from reading a forum post hinting at it.

The site of impact is in a low-level area - how did the devs ever visualise you going back there and finding this super important hole in the ground? Is this ever hinted at anywhere or is this another case of ER's supremely obtuse storytelling?

Fromsoft never do cutscenes for funsies, there is always a reason, and probably some hidden stuff too.

Funny, could have sworn Radahn got his own intro cutscene without any story importance.

I guess everyone remembers what they want to remember. :)
Damn, you honestly think that scene had no importance.

I don't even....

As stated previously, I am not following the questline, so I had no reason to go look for a hole in the ground I did not know existed. But yeah, once I saw those rocks and knowing where the star had fallen due to reading forums, it was easy to find.

Then your "How are you supposed to realise what beating Radahn opens up?" question is answered.

You're supposed to find it via the questline. NPC questlines leading you to optional hidden areas is a staple of From Software games.
It, is, thanks.

How is Radahn not important? He's literally one of the bosses (and a demi-god) shown in the trailers and the opening cinematic. It's no different than the cutscene for Godrick or Hoarah Loux.
Honestly, people telling you about watching the cinematic are full of ♥♥♥♥. As if you can properly judge where the damned thing landed based on that. Searching 'above' Nokron is a pretty decent hint however, and something you might be capable of thinking of during the game (sure as hell didn't, but whatever).

Oh well, anything even insinuating that FromSoft should maybe start being less cryptic about their often utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-progression questlines is met with criticism anyways.

I did it back when people were still discovering things and didn't know about mimic ashes other bits, it's dumb to use your own inability to care as fact. At the very least, you'd know it's in the direction of limgrave, no where else, and you can see it from most places in limgrave.

*Its not that hard to go in a general direction y'know*
I found it the way I found pretty much everything else, random chance.

I've probably missed a lot of other stuff.
I actually like the way the game shows where the meteor hit, since they really don't need to say anything when there's suddenly a giant cloud of floating rubble. it's kinda hard to miss~

If you rest at the boss bonfire, the wolf guy should be around to say he is going to where the meteor falls.

It's depressing to observe & play through the obviousness of the quests in this game, then read over & over every obvious thing & realize the low grey matter density of the general populous. I unintentionally completed every quest in the game. I shouldn't feel like a genius because of that. Ya'll are making me loath you for being the same species.
being fair, there's some quest stuff that's extremely obtuse if you do things in the wrong order. Millicent's questline is a good example where if you're starting it after you've been to Altus you'll probably never find where she goes without a guide. but if you haven't been there yet it's extremely easy to just stumble on where she moves to.
also it's not a mandatory step, but finding Blaidd in the Evergaol? that's some trash, just go to a boss arena you've already cleared in an early game area you have no reason to go back to and you get the context that makes a certain thing not completely out of nowhere.

It just sounds like you think you are amazing for picking something up in a video game, when the developer is known for making extremely vague hints at where you should go in their games. The average player is not going to know that the area is there, and From Software should not be absolved of criticism for their game design lol. I think it is just bad design and the company gets away with it because people let them. :)

Spoilers...?

But yeah, I just saw that cinematic a couple of days ago and the only difference I noticed was a bunch of floating debris way off in the distance in a part of the map near the beginning. I still haven't managed to make my way over there. Agreed that there could be some more guidance from a basic game design perspective. I'm just now hitting early game dungeons with level 1 smithing stone and gravewort. I haven't been able to upgrade ashen spirits because I missed this dungeon and I'm close to 90 hours in... lol
Blaidd says something and you can literally see the floating rocks from a very far distance away
There's also an environmental clue, much how you can see erdtrees and landmarks, theres floating rocks that weren't present before

So you didn't interact with the quest/NPCs on purpose, decided that the cutscene is irrelevant and then complain that noone told you.

Okay.

This is how people think today, so entitled, and scary.
Indeed. Nearly as scary as people commenting on threads they do not read.
