So to OP either go max protection that med load can get you if you are having a hard time or wear whatever looks cool if you think you can not die using it
Most of the time Medium Roll works just fine, and if you want something better, theres Bloodhound or Quickstep.
I think we covered this before... but anyway, look at this.
Edit: just to at least add some more info, you can use Crucible Feather Talisman and Windy Crystal Tear to increase iFrames; I can't tell how much each one adds, but I've used them combined and it's basically DS1's ninja flip, but you will get your ass handed to yourself as soon as a hit connects.
Edit 2: Apparently it both of these add 6 iFrames and don't stack with each other (but damage reduction does) according to some comments on Fextralife.
Seriously though, light rolling isn't worth the loss in armor and heavy rolling is worthless, medium is the only viable choice imo.
