ya, the mistake a lot of people do is only try to cast when they play sorcerer or stick with the starter weapon. Raya will eat your fp like no one's business especially in the mana zombie graveyard.
Have completed it 4 times(3 times with Mage, 1 time with Pally(Currently playing), and 100% the game I'd say magic is just fine how it is. If you find that you don't do enough dmg try to combo your tails to buff the damage and your items, a lot of armor and helms also gives buffs to stuff.
Using fp on zombies...
I am a melee and just ran past them lol. No dirty hands for me.
I'm going to jump on that to advertise clayman's harpoon a bit. Moonveil is undoubtfully an high quality weapon, but harpoon is i think the only weapon in a game with a native int scalling that can be infused with ashes of war. Doing so with pebble or ice spear (ashes with int scaling) for instance also gives those "spells" an absurd amount of stager compared to their sorcery counterpart, for STR/INT hybrids, flame of the redmanes stager as well. For spellblades, that weapon can be infused with scholar armament while still having an int scalling as long as an a non elemental color is picked up during the infusion.
Also for snow wicthes that like skating, it can be infused with bloundhound step and ice affinity.
So yeah, moonveil is great, but keep an harpoon or two, or three in your bags.
Glintstone Phalanx is also stupidly good in comparison to the sorcery version.
Poorly designed =/= hard
OFC you can send out a mimic +10 and meteorite of aztel/comet azur the boss into oblivion. OFC you can star of ruin kite many of the bosses in the game.
I think his point is if you are trying to play PURE mage without cheesing the game, the experience is pretty awful. Most spells are too expensive and do too little damage in the late game. RANNI moon, has like a 6 second cast time and does last damage than a bleed/Bonk jump attack.
I beat the game without even using my staff or casting any sourcery, just used Carian Retaliation on my shield and the Wraith Calling Bell. Easy clap.
With that said, the damage from the good spells is fine, they just take too long to cast late game when all the bosses move so fast. The quick casting spells all suck because they don't do any damage.
Opposite 10% from spell, 20% from frostbite.
Faith has literally the most options in the game, what are you talking about? More weapons, more spells, and more playstyles. You can be a dmg dealer, buff paladin, tank and healer at the same time
