To those of you who use flawless widescreen...

hello, i was interested in this game but then i heard that you are forced to play with black bars unless you install flawless widescreen which disabled easyanticheat which forces you to play offline. I was ok with the idea of playing 21:9 on my solo sessions and disabling it to go online with my friends etc. but then i heard the rumor that using flawless widescreen at all flags your save data so even if you go online with it disabled you risk ban, is that true? Any1 else using flawless widescreen can provide their experience?

No it doesn't. If you disable flawless widescreen and turn easy anticheat back on there will be no issues.

Been using it since the moment it was released. In fact, been using other mods too (though none that requires repacking game files).

I've gone online many times since then for various reasons including the invasion quest from Vallé in numerous playthroughs. Nothing has happened to me as of yet. I can still play online if I want.

so you've been playing online by turning off all the mods and turn them back on whenever you go offline again, right?

I wouldnt suggest the above....I was using the FPS unlocker, flawless widescreen, and the mods that disable anti-cheat and allow you to start the game in offline mode. I've only ever used the mods offline, and my wife just recently picked up the game so i removed all mod files, verified integrity of game files so that steam would remove the any other files i may have missed, deleted all traces of the mods and I started playing again online with no mods. It was probably 2 days after deleting everything and going back online that I was banned. No notice or anything, just started the game and said inappropriate activity detected, cannot sign into servers. I exit and restart the game, it allows me to "log in" as if i'm online but I cannot summon, cannot be summons, and only see message signs and bloodstains, no summons. Meaning i'm banned from online play simply because i wanted to play the game offline at higher than 60fps with no ♥♥♥♥♥♥ stuttering everywhere and black bars. sucks!

You can get a refund for up to 2 hours of game time, so you can just return it.

No problems switching between flawless widescreen and online play here but then I've not used any mods to bypass the anti cheat, best way to do that is simply move the EAC file from the games install folder and then copy and paste the Elden Ring exe and rename it to Start_protected_game and if you're wanting to make extra sure you can disable your internet connection. When you want to go back online swap the renamed files, the other guy might have had an issue with a mod but FW shouldn't cause you any issues if you play offline.
