[SPOILERS] Volcano Manor Questline is Terrible

Volcano Manor Assassination questline:

. leads you into what should be morally questionable actions bearing concequences in regard to the game's lore but actually have zero repercussions

. gives you access to FOUR armor sets otherwise unobtainable in a game already severely lacking in armor options as well as numerous other items

. locks you out of several side quests if you don't start it

. offers absolutely no alternate path, outcome or reward if you choose not to go the aforementioned morally questionable path of actions

This is basically the equivalent of joining every opposing factions in Skyrim in a single playthrough, except the game doesn't even pretend to try to give you an alternate path.

Just terrible and surprised it's not being brought up more. Feels like rushed/cut content to me.

I don't get morality in video games. If there is a quest to do I do it. Like in Skyrim I do all the good quest lines and I also do the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild on the same play through, even though in real life I would have non of that. If it's a interesting quest to do I do it just to know what happens, and it's just a game. More quests to do even if they are shady are all good to experience in my book.

it is very important to become your character when you play... so everything you do in the game will have an impact on your emotions and it is very important to follow a code of honor and have morals when you play a paladin...

I fully expected convoluted af questlines so for my first PT, I just decided to be a yes man, doing/accepting every quest/task as given, knowing I was surely going to mess something up or miss something at some point lol. I completed Ranni's questline and I'm pretty sure I accidentally skipped at least 1 step, if not multiple somehow. I still have that dude's poison potion lol. I REALLY wish there was an in-game quest log.

Feels fine to me.

Join up with the cultist murderers with their insane rulers and get rewards by killing people. Get a bunch of cool stuff then get a path to fight a Shardbearer at the end.

If we're talking morality, you already know what you're signing up for. Heck, in case you missed the other NPCs one of them in the Manor outright tells you this isn't for the faint of heart.

FromSouls quests have mostly never been particularly complex outside of "go here and talk to X/kill Y" and Volcano illustrates that quite well. If you want the slightly more layered questline, it is there, in the guise of a snakewoman. But this is like getting cookies and cream ice cream and complaining there's cookies in it.

I have a feeling like they initially wanted to bring factions/covenants into the game but decided to cut them out for... reasons. Like Bloody Fingers and Volcano Manor as the evil invading factions, Haight could have been one of the "good" guys factions. Golden Order as hunters or something and so on. You pledge allegiance to so many factions, but all of them are worthless and most have almost no impact on the game at all. It's sadly a missed opportunity, but if you go mainstream you have to streamline stuff it seems.

There is no good-guy faction in the game. If you consider what you are doing in the game, you are basically a mega-villain or at most an anti-hero, killing everyone and anything that stands in your way to gain ultimate power and decide the fate of the known world.

You don't though. Lady on a throne asks you to join her Erd Tree hating club and never explains what it's about until after you join. Then Bernhal specifically warns you there are grave concequences hunting your own kind and turns out there are none.

And no this is unlike anything FromSoft has ever done which I already explained with literally every actions having at least some concequences in previous games. You don't even get the option to go berserk and slaughter everyone in this one with this bs no weapon area thing.

Same. Data miners are already digging out tons of cut content. I think the game was definitely rushed in that aspect.
