Game allocates too much RAM
Hi. So, when I run this game, it allocates all of my remaining memory(~13gb), and if page filing was enabled, would probably also use that. I don't know why this happens, as the actual utilization is 2-4gb at any given time +3gb of my 8gb of VRAM.

This is an optimization failure. If I had to guess, the people who tested and provided the recommended specs did NOT factor in the slow page file in Windows, and thus it seems that the game requires >16gb.

I have to bold the following to make it 13 year old reading level friendly, to explain why this is an issue:

What this results in is being unable to run very light hardware-accelerated applications in the background(i.e. YT video in the background).

What the ♥♥♥♥.

um, you might want to boost your ram to 16gb. Sure, this game's poorly optimized, but games will require more memory as time passes

The game has issues for all of us. They are to busy pandering to the cry babies nerf this buff that when they should be fixing the crashes or everything else players report

My computer has 16gb of RAM. It has 8gb of VRAM. You might want to learn how to read before posting anything on the internet.

People like you ruin communities. You are SO QUICK to reply to the latest threads, and it's ALWAYS useless because you don't even read.

I'm sorry. It's just after hundreds of my threads and hundreds of the no-readers uselessly shooting it down despite not even reading, I don't have patience or respect for what you're doing and I hope you learn to READ the thing you're commenting on.

RAM usage will always be higher than VRAM usage, OP needs to chill.

And it seems that the only way the issue gets exposure is if you're loud, so here's me being loud.

You don't even understand the core issue, you're just making a throwaway defeatist comment for the sake of it. Why? I don't care why, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless and braindead. The allocation of RAM vs VRAM isn't even the problem. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ braindead community of idiots.

Which part do you not understand?
RAM usage is always higher than VRAM usage, its quite simple.
Also stop being an abusive prick.

Abusive? Call a counselor, jesus christ. Mean words directed at a broad and barely distinct denomination of people is not comparable to actual abuse.

Actually windows will allocate as much as it can spare many times especially IIRC with DirectX12, you are using your RAM, this is good. People who don't typically use all their ram may also discover they have a bad stick this way
Allocation is NOT the same as usage. You lack the understanding to speak on this subject, and the community lacks regular forum users - you dumbasses - that actually know or say anything worth anyone's time.

I don't care how mean or whatever you think I am, I just care that this community is so pathetic compared to DS1's. Like, seriously, this forum has been cringey since the game came out, and you're all to blame. I don't know what else you want. Respect? Bite me, you don't deserve respect for hounding every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thread with your contrived contrarianism.

And don't worry, I've unsubbed from the discussion so if you're truly abused then worry not, your 3 minutes of agony and dismay are over. Feel free to start using hashtags commonly used by domestic abuse victims to boost your reach.

Using Windows 10 you should have 32GB of RAM or more if you plan on playing video games and browsing YouTube or talking to friends on Discord.

One of my memory stick got spoilt, elden ring runs fine on only 8GB memory ram.

and even if people sometimes respond quickly and maybe missread something and so on

please just be patient with them as someone will be patient with you when you do a misstake on something

not sure what OP is talking about. I've been playing Elden ring, YT on the 2nd monitor, Discord all at the same time. no problems with 16gb. you do not understand how memory allocation works tbh.
