how does summoning work?

i am level 50 on my current character and have put my sign down on a plethora of bosses and have never been summoned. additionally, when i use a furlcaller nobody's signs show up. what is happening? how does it work so i can optimize my summoning chances?

What bosses are you putting down your sign for and at what level?

It seems odd that you haven't been called though, as I've been able to consistently get summoned for Renalla across like a 20 level gap.

Godrick, Rennala, Dragon Tree Sentinel, Godfrey V1, Morgott.

as I said, SL 50

edit: to clarify I have been mostly focusing on Godrick and Renalla since the latter two bosses are fairly OP compared to me at my level and took like 5+ mins to whittle down

Have you entered a multiplayer password? It disables all forms of Coop besides with others who have your same password. I've forgotten to clear mine after playing with a friend and was standing around thinking I was broken for a bit.

You've tried fighting all of those bosses at SL 50?

Well you should have gotten summoned at Renalla for sure. Hope someone has a suggestion for ya.

I've never used a password in this game, and do not have one set right now

Are you definitely sure you are online - if so then there should be no legitimate reason you are not seeing other peoples signs - the latter bosses are a little higher leveled than most people would generally be in those areas - but you should definitely be getting summoned at stormveil alot at that level. If you have a golden effigy in your MP inventory use that near Godrick - it should send your sign to all the pools in the castle.

If you ever received a high + weapon then your level doesn't match your progression now and the game thinks you should be matched with people who have +25 gear. Except it can't match you due to your level being too low.

I have a +18 epee but I switch to regular rapier for summons because i haven't leveled it very much

That could be a problem. Can anyone confirm? I think I'm somewhat underleveled and unupgraded. I know a capital mine gives access to purchasing infinite +12/lv4 shards and that's after Renalla right?

update: i turned on cross regional play and now i get matched like instantly
