Marika's / Radagon's Soreseal
I've heard a lot of different stuff about these seals. Obviously they give you a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of virtual levels, but does their effectiveness fall off at higher levels? Also, is there an actual formula for how much they increase the damage you recieve?
And if anyone has a spare Marika's Soreseal, may I have it?

yes I believe radagons is 15% and marikas is 15% less for scar seals.

the rule of thumb currently is for pvp atleast :

use radagons soreseal. otherwise youre 20 levels weaker than everyone else in pvp. sad fact of reality. that thing is the best charm in the whole game currently. this is due to the penalty beeing cut in half in pvp. same deal as with prisoners chain in ds3 but this gives you 5 extra points compared to the chain and is easier to get aswell.

the lower your runelevel is the better this charm becomes. thats simple logic. its a flat 20 level boost. the higher your runelevel is the less overall % usefulness it offers. on level 200 (overleveled) char it only provides a 10% total bonus. while at level 10 it provides a 200% bonus compared to your level.

the gain in vigor and other stats also offsets the dmg penalty to a certain degree. you take roughly 13% more dmg in PVE but the vigor increase offsets that by a certain amount already. i dont know the precise value but the dmg taken increase is barely noticeable on mobs aswell.

once you hit softcaps for example if you wanna make an 80 str or 80 dex build or 60 vigor the seal would become FAR less effective once you reach these values without it. but if you stop at 75 or 55 its benefits are still there big time.

they might actually go and nerf this thing this time as its just too good honestly. i doubt theyll lower the stats given the weaker version exists already so they cannot really lower that by much to begin with so theyll probaly greatly increase the dmg penalty from 13% for pve which in turn also makes it worse in pvp if the new penalty is high enough.

till then. use the soreseal. otherwise youll weaken yourself.

Of course their effectiveness falls off at higher levels. Their main use is in early game where you don't have enough levels to wield everything you want. Once you can comfortably equip your desired gear they are a serious handicap. Armor may not be as impactful as it should be in this game but a fifteen percent damage debuff is serious. Especially since said debuff stacks with scorpion charms.

Lazy twink builds that only wants one amulet.
Go and get mariks or radagons soreseal and start invade.
chewonthis Apr 13, 2022 @ 9:26am
Rdagons is better choice because the vigor counters the dmg. marikas does not gain you enough resistance negation to offset the dmg.

marikas is also at the TAILEND of the game (+5 version). radogans is guarded by a rat and reachable at gamestart.

No hit sl1. damage increase does not matter if your not getting hit.

If you use the endurance levels from the seals to wear heavier armor you negate the defense reduction easily. Armor damage negation is ER is pathetic anyway so even if you only break even at 0.0 defense as long as you have the vigor it doesn't matter. It's a worthwhile trade for items that effectively give you the stats to use most weapons from the very start.

from my experience only people who use this are the same ones complaining about getting one hit killed by anything, but if someone comptetent is making use of this, good for them

entirely different case. oneshots happen because of no vigor meme casuls. and these are the people who cry about oneshots. when you have decent vigor you wont ever see oneshots with the soreseal of radogan. like i said before. 13% more dmg in pve doesnt get you oneshot. you have to consider the defense gain from the stats at the same time. so the actual dmg increase taken is more like 5-6% in pve. less in pvp. if you get oneshot youll get oneshot. 5% doesnt change that. you dont have enough vigor in such a case.its as simple as that.

the amount of 700 hp hosts i saw during coop and invasions was absolutly mindboogleing. so i am not suprised by these threads from these morons. with 700 hp it doesnt matter if you use the seal or not. YOU DIE EITHER WAY in 1 hit with that.

every time i see a thread like this, they say they have radagon soreseal equipped

Can't speak for PvP but in PvE I'd rather just have the extra levels in my preferred stats without the liability

like i explained by now that is not the reason they get oneshot. i used that seal since i first found it nonstop. i never got oneshot (aside from gravity but well your lord demands your death once in awhile) by an enemy unless i had low vigor.
