Enemies in Farum Azula are super unforgiving!
Much more punishing than enemies in any other region I have explored so far.
I am in some 'palace'?? It is patrolled by Banished Knights.
For the most part I was able to work my way through them pretty easily:
Open with a backstab with Misericorde... switch to Claymore and doublehand it as they're getting up... jump heavy and then light attack and they're done.

I killed a handful of Banished Knights this way until I found a dual wielding one.
Opened the same way... but this time I somehow failed to lock on, so I went in for a wild YOLO jumping attack... missed.

The Banished Knight then came at me with a spinning flurry of dual wielded weapons and I died almost instantly from full health (40 VIG).

Feels bad. :(

their hp are not high and they stagger easily, but yes they flurry hard if you give them time. Try stealth to sieze the initiative.

But if theyre killing you THAT fast put armour (and armour talisman) on or take off the soreseals.

Banished Knights are just really brutal enemies, particularly the dual-wielders who have like a 10-hit combo that will delete even highly tanky players out of existence.

If you're struggling, know that none of them are really required to advance or get anything good, so you can just run past 'em if they get too troublesome.

My character is fairly tanky/chunky. I always have a minimum of 50 poise (without talisman) and however much armor that this comes with.

I don't use any talismans that increase how much damage I take.

I still got melted though. :steamhappy:

Fair enough! We just have different perceptions of the damage i guess. But if you sneak up and get a charged R2 then backstab, you should be able to just out-trade from there. and you have plenty of flasks by then.

They flatten me too if they get the drop on me, mind.

This zone is made for Elenora PoleBlade
It has a leap beginning that lets you engage the enemy before they enter their melee range.
So you can be aggressive and attack them head on. The combo when fully played out breaks anything humans stance. You chain 2 together to kill the knights . 1 or 2 for the dogs . unfortunatly this weapon is not ideal for dragons or fire giants or well most bosses because once committed to the attack ...... you are wide open for quite awhile .. but it is meant to kill shield or dual handing knights ... melts them all..

disclaimer ... Crucible Knights are the exception ... they attack and kill right through your attacks like they are not happening.... you will die to them during the animation

Well... I've gotten really good at dealing with the Banished Knights.
I'm able to clear the 5 or 6 around the area where you fight the Godskin Duo without taking any damage.
Have done it a couple of times now because I keep getting booped off the edge trying to cheese the distant Draconic Tree Sentinel with ranged. I keep getting caught by his red lightning while I'm in the middle of an animation and cannot cancel out of it by rolling or anything. ;)

Havent fought any of the dual wielders.
And except of a few situations especially if theyre next to an item i only fought against the polearm/sword+shield variations.

The dual wielding ghosts at castle sol made me mad enough xD
WOw you look familiar, I remember someone with the same pic avatar in Total war games forum. Anyway its tough the first time round, you will get use to it as you play more. If it is easy, its a boring game. And like many said it before me, up your vigor. As most chinese gamers always say, surviving is dps.

Farum Azula is easy.

dragon knight is just tree sentinels with extra abilities, you've beaten them many times already, not a big deal.

godskin duo is a joke if you use sleep.

like the dragon knight, you've beaten like a million dragons up to this point. you know how to deal with them, not hard, and like the dragon knight they all use lightning, so just put on the corresponding drake talisman if you find them hard, additionally you can pop a lightning damage negation incantation and then even another talisman can be equipped to further increase resistance to lightning (pearldrake), that easily gives you +70% lightning resistance.

beastmen are vulnerable to holy damage, ez gaem. especially on ng+ if you got relic sword.

birds can be ranged to death. yes they are annoying but easy to deal with.

banished knights are literally early game enemies you find all over stormveil and other parts of the game, if you haven't learned how to deal with them yet then i dunno what to tell you, most of them can be sneaked up on and assassinated before they even get to do anything.

the bosses of the zone (maliketh and the two headed dragon psadicasdiashdiabnsuydox-whatever-its-name-is) are the only sort of hard part, and that's only because they got some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ instagib abilities, but other than that they are very much just trial and error.
