How to disable EAC ?
I'm trying the method of renaming those files but for some reason it doesn't seem work as the logo of the copied eldenring.exe file shifts back to the bear after I rename it according to the various guides.

Any other way to disable EAC ? And if I do disable it, would it disable my achievements as well..?

Navigate to the game folder and create a new text document and name it steam_appid.txt
Open that new text file you just made and write 1245620 inside. Save and close.

Make a shortcut of the eldenring.exe somewhere and launch it directly through that.

And no, it doesn't disable achievements.

Edit: No need to change the name of any executables this way.

you have to alter both files, i play for many hours now without EAC.
rename the start-protected-game.exe to something else, then rename the elden-ring.exe to start-protected-game.exe and it should work

Is the eldenring.exe which you refer to the orginal folder ? Or the copy pasted one ?

There are many reasons why someone would want to disable EAC without cheating.
- the game simply runs better without EAC
- DX11 patch
- unlock the 60 fps cap
- remove vignette, chromatic aberration, etc
- ultra widescreen support
- disable the auto-centering camera when using mouse and keyboard
etc etc

Renaming the files is a good way to get your save data corrupted. Below is the proper way that was provided to a similar topic on the discussions.

####################
Go to steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game

Create a new .txt
Name it steam_appid.txt
Inside that .txt, only write 1245620
Start the game using eldenring.exe in the same folder, NOT start_protected_game.exe

You will start offline and EAC will be ignored altogether
####################

If you follow those steps, your game will start in offline mode and EAC will be disabled. Hope this helps.

NOTE: I recommend making a shortcut of eldenring.exe on your desktop.
NOTE #2: Playing offline without EAC won't disable achievements.
