Optimization with a GTX 1050 Ti
Hello world,

As the title suggests, I've been trying to figure out what is the best way to run Elden Ring as smooth as it can. I'm running everything on "Low" (or lower where it can be applied). No setting is on "Medium" or higher qualities.
First and foremost, huge disadvantage for me, I'm playing from a gaming laptop, although there are no temperature issues. Funny enough, the laptop gets hotter when I run Tekken 7 rather than when I run ER. No, you are not allowed to gaming-laptop-GTX-1050 Ti-shame me (jk you are). Other specs are: Intel CORE i7-8750H, RAM 16 GB, hard disk is HDD (let me know whether you need more details on this).

I do not expect to run the game in 4K res and 120 fps, but as for now, it looks like a slideshow. Now, yes, I am exaggerating, but people on the web and friends of mine can run the game with a GTX 1050 Ti and an average fps between 30 and 45, mine doesn't even get up to 30.
The game is still somewhat playable (and I am hardcore, these issues won't stop me from playing it), but sometimes Torrent and the enemies become invisible, which can be a huge bummer.
The only things I've done are:
- upgrading the GPU drivers to the latest version;
- downgrading every graphics setting (everything is on low settings right now).

Any suggestions on what can I do or where should I look?
Thank you very much for your help and please let me know whether you need more information.

EDIT: Check the latest comments! Around #50 or so, there should be an interesting discussion about EAC which might help your cause

if you have nvidia control panel by default, you can limit frame rate to 30, set power management to prefer maximum preformance and put virtual pre-rendered frames to use 3d application setting. I've been playing like this with high settings and I have a 1650 which isn't too far off from a 1050 but graphics might be a little lower for you. Maybe setting texture quality to performance and disabling v-sync would help for your game too

Try lowering the resolution. that's what i'm doing.

What is your CPU and GPU utilization while playing the game?

I will get back to you as soon as I get out of work (3-ish hours)

Leave SSAO - DOF - Motion Blur off and shadows on low or medium

Already done, SSAO, DOF are on low and Motion Blur is disabled. Everything else that cannot be turned to "Disabled" is on "Low". No setting is on "Medium" or higher qualities.

imo then the issue probably lies with the game and less with your laptop

the game is still unoptimized and even on my GTX 1080 i get lowest 50 fps in open world and stutters from time to time.

This is on the highest settings, but doesnt really seem to change even on lower settings.

I don't mean this in a dickish way but I think you're already pushing the limits for your setup. If it playable for you then enjoy, I hope the invisible stuff will keep itself at a minimum for you.

Tbf that's what I'm hoping.
I've played a lot of games with this GPU, and I've come to realize that it can run everything, but nothing on the highest settings. This is 100% fine by me, but running a game on the lowest settings with a fps rate of less than 30 is just awful. I mean, it still is a decent GPU and a lot of people still make use of it worldwide.

I absolutely get that (no probz for the dickish part, I don't think it sounded dickish), but how come some people can still run it decently with the same GPU?
I mean, were it for other computing resources, I'd 100% agree with you, but it doesn't seem to me that 16 GB of RAM and a HDD hard drive are below the minimum specs (I may be wrong on this though)

This game should more or less run like Dark Souls 3, but FPS will be generally lower in Open World (as compared to in dungeons or closed areas).

Your HDD should be fine but I don't know about your memory. 16GB yes, but I don't know how laptop memory functions in comparison to say dual channel desktop sticks. I do however doubt the capability of a laptop/mobile 1050ti running the game smoothly enough. That might be the real bottleneck I think!

The game currently has quite a few technical issues under the hood and some people are facing problems that others (Seemingly) aren't.

There's that one thread about people having invisible enemies, something I personally haven't experienced in my ~50 hours of playing.

I've experienced the game's performance degrading over time. The other night I quit the game after it had dropped to sub 30FPS, making a boss fight frustrating to deal with. The next day I booted it back up and performance was perfect again. I've had the performance drop before like this, I only really picked up on the fact that it seemed to happen over time that specific time though.

And there's also the stuttering and crashing issues. Some people have them, some people don't seem to have them.

So your performance being different to other people is probably down to the game's technical aspects being wacky as all hell.

Mmh very interesting point about laptop vs PC channels. Will delve into this deeper and get back to you, tyvm for the suggestion!

This was a very insightful reply, and pretty much confirmed what I was afraid of. (Cognition bias much?)
I'm inclined to think that you're right, mainly because it seems very hard to me that people with the same GPU and same (or even worse) hardware specs than mine, do not run the game as I run it.
Why are you pretending to run the game at high frames with unsupported gpu?
This doesn't make sense, expect lower frames if you are under the minimum specs, why losing time for it i don't know, but you clearly know that your actions to gain more frames are useless
