Maybe buy the game from steam next time instead of a site that consists mostly of keys bought with stolen credit cards or through fraud

g2g?

i mean if you buy from a reseller you're accepting those risks but if you'd already redeemed it to your steam account you can't lose access unless valve revoke it, which they like never do

I'd say well deserved.

Lots of devs said they would rather have people pirate their games than to buy it from key resellers.

G2G and G.2.A have those kind of reseller trying to sell game they got with stolen credit cards, unless buying from a trusted seller like steam you take the risk to get your game key removed.

Still they should give you another one or refund you but that depend the policy of the website...

You probably bought from a grey market reseller. Thats what happens. A lot of those keys are form stolen credit cards. Just spend the extra money for a legit key. Nothing you can do but ask for another key from the reseller. Steam can do zero about it. You are supporting crime by using those resellers though.

Ya. There's an indie dev I know that I talk on the regs with. We had a discussion about how he's 100% okay with people pirating his games but hates resellers. Cause he sees the money then it gets ripped away from him when it gets charge backed on a stolen card.

Fun stuff.
Not only does it get taken away, he's actually charged a fee.

As others have noted, most of these key sites are sketchy.

However, Green Man Gaming is legit and they primarily purchase keys directly from publishers/developers.

Wanna feel 100% safe? Always buy Steam keys from Steam.

A key bought from a shady reseller was disabled? How could it happen?
Truly a mystery for the ages.

Thats rough man.

greenman seems safe as well, i've never had an issue with instant gaming eithher. But they don't host rando sellers with shady keys they are the sellers.

Green Man Gaming is a legit retail site. They buy there keys directly from the Developers. They often have good prices to. Far safer than a reseller.

On today's edition of Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes, we learn about the consequences of using shady backchannel markets to purchase keys that were probably obtained at the expense of identity/CC theft victims.

Really? They never brought that up. That's ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Yes but its a charge back on the stolen credit card that is not in the buyers name..SO Steam most likely will not punish the buyer in my opinion. Still there is that possibility.
