permanently lost Sword of Night and Flame

So today I wanted to complete the All legendarie armaments achievement. Got everything but it did not unlock. I read somewhere that someone got it by dropping all 9 weapons on the ground and picking them up again. I tried that. However, When I picked them back up, one was missing. MY sword of night and flame was missing. I was next to a site of grace in a dungeon and was alone at the time, no other player was with me, no coop, no invader. The sword just disappeared.

Is it possible that the sword popped up in someone else's game and they picked it up, just because I left weapons on the ground while online? If so, I wish I had known that before trying. Now I'm just missing a legendary weapon and the achievement until I hit NG+...

No, there's a limit for things laying on the ground, although 8 sounds rather low. Are you sure you dropped it, not discarded?

If you dropped them one on top of the other I think thats likely. At least its an easy legendary to get in NG+.

Sounds like the item may have despawned. I wonder if there is a limitation on items dropped in a world? Can you only have X amount of items dropped before the game starts despawning?

A friend can drop it for you, if that's possible for you.

Just use the item chest next time. I placed all 9 weapons in the chest and the acheivement popped for me even tho I had all weapons for over an hour.

I think what may have biffed it is that I dropped the sword first, then moved to the side (planned to drop items next to each other) then dropped all other 8 items on top of each other (because I changed plans). and I think that's when the sword despawned.
