I will admit I am not skilled with programming stuff and I've been burned by cheat engine before as it gave me a particularly nasty computer virus the last time I tried to use it for anything (to fix a broken mod in dark souls prepare to die, funnily enough) but the idea of playing through the game and getting this happen to me, particularly if I invest many hours of progress only to get this happen and make my save (and all the time I spent doing anything) worthless... well, it's admittedly been putting me off playing Elden Ring because of it. I've already been hit by hackers (both good and bad) in dark souls 3, the good ones I can actually respect since they do fun things like custom boss fights and the like but the bad ones that just actively ruin your game? No... and especially not in Elden Ring. If there's no real way to prevent it, I might just decide not to play until From Software and/or Bandai Namco do something about it.
Anyway thank you for this information, as I am often targeted for just existing, or being correct making this very helpful information for me personally. TY
Hacking/reversing is about exploiting HOW a specific thing got implemented. This means that preventing a specific cheat from happening often means rewriting whole bunch of code.
For example, Item Injection cheats exploits the poor implementation of the network trading system. I made a post about Item Injection in ds2

As far as I am told though, this particular issue is easy to fix, but the problem still remains. Cheaters can POTENTIALLY do what they want, as long as they get around EasyAntiCheat.
The best thing devs could do is to properly implement EAC, which I'm sure is what they are working on. That would prevent 99% of the cheaters community from going online.
I can assure you tho, this game is way safer than the other souls game. Do not let cheaters hold you back, it's far less likely here to meet a cheater online, even less likely to meet one with proper coding knowledge that can actually do harm. The greatest part of cheaters are script kiddies that run around with invincibility, just get out of their world when you see one and move on.
Not playing this game cause of fear of cheaters is like not driving a car out of fear of an accident. :)
If Steam moderators decide to shut this down tho, guess I will just post this on Reddit :|
The irony here is that I have a driving license but don't really drive for that particular reason... I don't really like going fast IRL and am super cautious about avoiding causing a accident but... can't really account for other people :/ But yeah, I guess I just gotta wait to see if they properly use EAC to stop it.
