To Castle Stormveil, over on the cliff.
The home of the decrepit demigod, Godrick the Grafted.
It's time you set off, I should think.
To Castle Stormveil, on the cliff, where grace would guide you.
If you seek the Elden Ring, maidenless as you are."
- Literally the first dude you see in the game.
Like others said, it may be wise to do some exploring before tackling the castle (lvlong your character, upgrading your weapon)
Skyrim and ubisoft games ruined a lot of peoples ability to think for themselves in a game. They have been conditioned to expect their hand held through entire games. This isnt the players fault. This is due to game devs being too lazy to make anything interesting enough to pay attention to so they just go "Yeah you went to take a leak while that cutscene played because you could not care less about these npcs so here is a big yellow indicator to tell you exactly where to go and when you get there some dialog that wont matter will be said and then just go to the next big glowing marker." Since getting a player engaged with your story means it has to actually have effort put behind but that would require effort and talent. So instead most modern games put less effort into their story than adult films do.
Optional invasions, point markers, compass, map, abundance of bonfires, instant teleport from any area, easier mobs and bosses...
And still people complain. My god....
