Spamming Pebble is no less viable than pressing R1 to swing a sword, but I do find it important to note that Comet Azur is useless against targets that move, targets with more than 1 phase (outside of Malenia's phase 2, where you can cut her health bar if you get everything set up just before the transition), or enemies that like to dodge on a press of a spell cast.
Copium
Spoilers ahead for faith:
Faith allows you to unlock a new ending and explore a completely different area that you can reach via a teleporter on Greyoll's Dragonbarrow. You'll fight Malenia there to claim the rightful claim over a land known as Tahiti. Upon defeating her, you will be rewarded with a cowboy-style headpiece that boosts your Faith by 5.
Edit: Anyway, who knows. I don't think they'll nerf magic, but anything is possible.
I have seen a friend casting comet azure and melted morgott from 100 > 0 in one cast. Not only that he is self admittedly terrible at the game and thats why he uses sorcery so he can melt things with next to no effort.
Watched him get through... 5/6 bosses last night he had no idea about in the space of about a couple of hours. This is also with him having no idea where to go and exploring. Your down playing of sorcery's power is very transparent. Your argument about bleed can also be downplayed by saying "Not all bosses can be bled, statues, undead etc are all immune to it." A bleed build loses it's power on bosses that are literally immune.
It's certainly viable and am glad he can use it to enjoy himself but lets not pretend it's the same as using a melee weapon.
Do I think it needs nerfing? no. Do I think it's stronger than any melee build and makes things in the game alot simpler? Yes and there is nothing wrong with that.
Because they have never had to learn how to dodge and wait for openings.
and it seem like mages didnt have much trouble with comet azur on him. because it litterly kills him in one cast including his "guards"
I’m 180 hours in on a mage and they are just fine. The only people who think they are overpowered are the ones who cheated themselves and looked everything up, and watched videos of those overpowering builds, and went and found all the most powerful gear. . I’ve played all the Souls games and this one is the hardest by far for mages. Don’t cheat yourself, and then cry about how easy something is. The same thing is true for melee builds. If you go looking for the best builds, then you will destroy the game for yourself. At least wait until your second play through before going all OP on the game would be my advice. But. This generation would rather watch people play their own game instead of playing it for themselves. Still don’t get it.
Comet Azur is an awful spell, the infinite FP flask is the only thing making it viable. A vast number of enemies can just walk out of the way too, it's really only good for one-shotting minibosses.
Looking at you, Elden Stars... Graphically beautiful incantation, weak as hell.
There are plenty of enemies throughout the game with high magic resistance. Your friend was likely following the meme video to kill Morgott with Comet Azur. So the other bosses you mention were all related to that video. You're overplaying the power of sorcery drastically. You saw a small example of your friend being able to follow a video's guide then made your opinion that it's "OP" because it can do that *sometimes*. First off, that's how a mage should be in games.. they should be powerful if they can get a certain set up off. In order to do it though on here you need a boss that is very slow or stationary. You then need a flask that gives you unlimited FP for 10 seconds. The unlimited FP is the OP part here.. not the spells. You can utilize that unlimited FP with weapon skills and do ridiculous amounts of damage as well.
As for your argument about bleed not being OP because some bosses are immune, the ones that are immune typically are easy to kill anyway like the statues. The amount of enemies immune to bleeding though is *far* less than the ones resistant to magic. The entire academy dungeon was a nightmare for any caster. It was just constant wizard duels with every turn around a corner.
