Castle Sol & Left Side of the Haligtree Secret Medallion

Help, all guides I google say go to Castle Sol but fail to actually tell me how to get there. How do I actually get there if I can't use the lift? Guide says follow paths. The only path is to the lift with cliff on both sides. What am I missing?

No wait - I'm confusing the medallions, too, perhaps. But essentially it's that you need the regular Rold medallion to use the lift. Then you go up and to the Castle and get the second half of the special secret medallion for the same lift that then takes you somewhere else :)

Beat the boss in Leyndell and you can use the lift. It's that simple.

Yes, I concur - you should have the regular medallion because Melina gives it after M. fight in Leyndell. That allows you to go up and reach Castle Sol where I described it. And without doing that fight you cannot even get to Forbidden Lands...

OP, just to verify:

You defeated Morgott in the throne room at Leynell Capital?

You descended to the Forbidden Lands in the tower elevator.

Did you fight a giant gargoyle and/or come across one?

And was their a finger-reading elderly woman by the lift you're speaking of? The Grand Lift of Rold with the giant statues.

The default medallion that should be from Melina should take you up to the Mountain. At least I thought it was.

I have done all that. I just need to get the Left Side of the medallion.

If you use the medallion you got from Melina after defeating Morgott. It should be usable at the Grand Lift of Rold and that will take you up to the Mountain of the Giants. And that should let you follow the video guides through the snowy lands that lead north to Castle Sol.

Could you post a screenshot of where you're at, both in-game and on the map, then of the Rold Medallion (and not the Halitree medallion).

Or perhaps this is the answer: Stand in right spot at lift and "hoist the medallion" (he may have bypassed the first similar lift).

Ok, sorry for any confusion. I have the correct medallion. The "hoist medallion" was grayed out and I wasn't able to use it. I didn't know I needed the Rold medallion, I thought because it wouldn't let me activate that I needed another one. Which then lead to google which seemed to think I needed the Haglitree Medallion. So now action "Hoist Medallion" is not grayed out. Why would it do this?

Normally actions like this don't work from horseback? (just guessing) Otherwise, dunno - but if it works now it's all good... and you also know what to do with the other medallion now *cough cough* (use "switch action")

I wasn't horseback. I am running all over the lift with nothing grayed out. Not sure why it did that unless the game was registering me as still in combat when I wasn't.

I have looked at my map quite often. Nothing on map told me why I couldn't hoist the medallion. With your wisdom I would suggest writing a book so that I can read it and be smart like you.

North west of the Grand lift of Dectus there is a Ravine Veiled village go up the wooden ladders and defeat the fire drake then you can get up to top half of the map.
